AN ORDINANCE FORBIDDING THE NRROTION, CONSTRUCTION,
OR MAINTENANCE OF ANY WOODEN OR METAL AWNINGS ON MONTEREY
STREET, IN THE CITY OF GILROY*
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Gilroy do
ordain as follows:-
I.
It shall be unlawful for any .person, firm or oorporation
owning or oontrolling any building fronting on Monterey Street
in the City of Gilroy to erect, construct or maintain any
wooden or metal awning, which will project over the sidewalk
on said Monterey Street. All wooden or metal awnings
which now project over any portion of the sidewalk on Monterey
Streets, must be removed on or before the first day of June 1914.
II.
&ny person, firm or corporation violating any provision
of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceed-
ing one hundred Dollars, or by imprisonment in the City Jail
not exceeding thirty days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
III.
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force on the
first day of June 1914-
