AN ORDINANCE AMENDING+ SECTION 319 OF THE MUNICIEAL CODE
OF THE CITY OF GILROY RELATIVE TO THE LICENSE TO BE PAID
BY PEDDLERS AND SOLICITORS.
Tile Mayor and Common Council of the City of Gilroy do
ordain as follows: --
I,
That Section 319 of the Municipal Code of the City of
Gilroy be amended to read as follows: -
Seetion 319. Every person peddling, soliciting or can -
vassing for the sale of any book, map, paper, periodical or
picture in the City of Gilroy, shall pay to the City of Milroy,
a license of Five Dollars per month.
Every parson peddling grain, hay, farm products, vegetables,
fruit, meats, poultry, eggs, butter or cheese not the produce
Of the person vending the same, shall pay to t1ne City of Milroy
a license Of Fifty Dollars per year.
Every person hawking or vending from door to door in the
City of Milroy art dry goods, grooeri ®e, hardware, jewelry, or
any other goods, wares, merchandise or commodities not herein-
before in th&s section mentioned or herein otherwise provided
for, or canvassing or soliciting for the sale of the same with
or without samples, shall pay to the City of Gilroy, license of
Ten Dollars par day, or, if paid by the month, a lioense of
lhir ty Dollars par month, payable in advance.
Nothing herein contained shall be deemed to apply to pro-
prietors or employees of any establiebsdnplace of business or
business house of the City of Gilroy canvassing Or soliciting
sales for their goods, or to canvassers or solicitors of estab-
lished Wholesale Dealers who shall canvass or solicit orders
from established dealers at fixed places of business.only.

II.
Any person violating or wilfully nOn- complying with any
of the provisions of this Ordinance is guilty of a misdemeanor
and shall upon conviction taersof be punished by a fins not
exoeeding One hundred Dollars or by imprisonment in the City
Prison not axceeding thirty days or by both such fine and im•-
pri samment.
III.
All ordinances and, parts of Ordinances in oonfliot herewith
are hereby repealed..
IV.
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its passage and approval.
