1205
RESOLUTION OF APPLICATION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GILROY TO THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY LOCAL AGENCY
FORMATION COMMISSION RELATING TO THE DETACHMENT OF
TERRITORY FROM THE GilROY RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DIS-
TRICT
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Gilroy;
1. That it does hereby request the Santa Clara County Local
Agency Formation Commission to approve the detachment of the territory
described in "Exhibit A", attached hereto and made a part of this Reso-
lution, from the Gilroy Rural Fire Protection District.

Act of 1965.
3. That the territory proposed to be detached is uninhabited.
4. That it is desired that the proposed detachment provide for
and be made subJect to the following terms and conditions;
None.
5. That the reasons for this application are:
The territory described in "Exhibit A" has been
annexed to the City of Gilroy. City is prepared
to assume fire protection services in this ter-
ritory.
6. That it is hereby requested that proceedings be taken for the
detachment hereinabove proposed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to file a
certified copy of this Resolution with the Executive Officer of the Santa
Clara County Local Agency Formation Commission.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Gilroy on this
2nd day of January, 1968, by the following vote:

WHEREAS, there has heretofore and on the 21st day of January, 1966,
been annexed to the City of G i 1 roy, under the des i gnat i on of "MONTEREY
NORTHWEST ANNEXATION 65-4 TO THE CITY OF GILROY" the following described
property located in the County of Santa Clara, State of California, to wit:
BEING a portion of Ranch Lot 32 as shown on Map No. 7 accompany-
ing the Final Report of the Referees In the Las Animas Rancho
Partition Suit, Action No. 5536 had In the Superior Court of the
State of California, in and for the County of Santa Clara, and
being also all of Lots 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 and a portion of Lot 3
as shown on Map entitled, "Map of Jas. A. Clayton & Co.s. Sub-
division of Las Animas Ranch Lot 31 and a part of Las Animas
Ranch Lot No. 30", wh i ch map is f I I ed for record in Volume "V" of
Maps at pages 1 and 2, Records of Santa Clara County, California,
and being more particularly described as follows:
"BEGINNING at a point in the centerline of Farrell Avenue
distant thereon S. 670 34' W. 181.00 feet from the corner
common to Lots 3 and 4 as shown on said Map of the Clayton
Subdivision, said point of beginninq being also the north-
westerly corner of that certain 1.60l acre parcel of land
shan on Record of Survey Map filed for record in Book 9
of Maps at page 18, Santa Clara County Records, and running
thence along the centerline of Farrell Avenue N. 670 341 E.
787.10 feet, more or less, to the southwesterly corner of that
certain parcel of land conveyed to Gabriel G. Lepiane and
Carmen U. Lepiane by Deed recorded under Serial No. 465183
in the Office of the Recorder of Santa Clara County; thence
along the westerly line of said Parcel N. 220 20' W. 100.00
feet to the northwesterly corner thereof; thence along the
northerly line of said Parcel and the prolongation thereof
N. 670 34' E. 475.00 feet, more or less, to the intersection
thereof with the northeasterly line of the Southern Pacific
Railroad; thence along said northeasterly line S. 220 20' E.
2,824.00 feet, more or less, to the intersection thereof with
prolongation easterly of the northerly line of Ranchlot 25
as shown on said Map No.7; thence 810ng said prolongation and
northerly line of Ranchlot 25 S. 88 35' w. 187.35 feet, more
or less, to the intersection thereof with the southwesterly
line of the State Highway (U.S. 101); thence along southwesterly
line of said Highway N. 220 20' w. 686.30 feet to the north-
easterly corner of that certain Parcel of land described in
the Deed to Gustav H. Steele and Barbara Steele, recorded
December 8, 1949, in Volume 1888 at page 184, Official Records
of Santa Cla&a County; thence along the northerly line of said
Parcel s. 88 351 W. 191.53 feet, more or less, to the north-
westerly corner of said Parcel; thence along the westerly line
of said Parcel and the southerly prolongation thereof s. 10 25'
E. 170.00 feet to the intersection thereof wi ththe center 1 ine of
Uman Avenue as shown on the "Map of North Gilroy Tract", which
map Is f i1 ed for Record in Book ''WI' of Maps a t pages 14 and 15,
Records of Santa Clara County; thence along the centerline of
Llman Avenue S. 880 35' w. 118.75 feet to an intersection with
the southerly prolongation of the easterly line of that certain
Parcel of Land described in the Deed to Glenn C. Defebaugh.. et
ux, Recorded in Volume 4407 at page 476, Official Records of
Santa Clara County; thence along said prolongation and easterly
line N. 20 20' W. l70.02 feet to the northeasterly corner of
said Parcel conveyed to Defebaugh; thence along the northerly
line of said Parcel and the westerly prolongation thereof (being
150.00 feet northerly at right angles from the northerly line of
Uman Avenue) S. 8~35' W. 559.05 feet, more or less, to a
point in the centerline of Carlyle Avenue that is N. 220 20' W.
l81.99 feet from the intersection of the centerlines of Carlyle
and lIman Avenues as shown on said "Map of North Gilroy Tract";
thence along the centerline of Carlyle Avenue N. 220 20' W. 484.00
feet, more or less, to the Northeasterly corner of Lot 1 in Block
7 as shown on said IIMap of North Gilroy Tractll; thence along the
northerly line of Lot l~ South 880 34' 3011 W. 96.28 feet to the
southeasterly corner of Lot 9 as shown on the Map of the Clayton
Subdivision above referred to; thence along the northeasterly
line or Lot 9 N. 220 181 3011 W. 182.04 feet to the most south-
erly corner of that certain 1.744 acre parcel of land shown on
the Record of Survey Map first above referred to; thence along
the southwesterly line of said 1.744 acre parcel and ~he 1.601

353.73 feet and N. 220 18t 30" West 1053.00 feet to the point
