RESOLUTION NO. 94 - 68
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY, CALIFORNIA SUPPORTING THE
HEALTHY REGION CONSORTIUM AND INDICATING THE INTENT TO PARTICIPATE IN AN
ORIENTATION JOINTLY WITH OTHER CITIES IN SANTA CLARA COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Gilroy, California, has placed a
high priority on improving the quality of life for all the citizens of the City;
and
WHEREAS, such an effort must be broad in scope to include al aspects of
the community and the environment; and
WHEREAS, success will depend on coordinated efforts of both the public and
private sectors and regional collaboration; and
WHEREAS, the Healthy Region Project Committee of the Healthy
Community/Healthy Economy Initiative of the Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network
is facilitating the orientation; and
WHEREAS, the California Healthy Cities Project will collaborate with The
Healthcare Forum to offer their expertise and resources.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Gilroy
supports the Healthy Region Consortium as a means of integrating health concerns
into a broad approach to improve the overall quality of life and environment in the
City and intends to participate in the orientation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that following the orientation, the City will
consider developing a program to address local health needs and consider
collaborating with other cities to focus on health issues that require a regional
response.
