RESOLUTION NO. 2012 - 06
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY
DESIGNATING AND DESCRIBING TRUCK TRAFFIC ROUTES
WITHIN THE CITY
WHEREAS, the truck traffic route resolution that was last updated in 1974 included
Forest Street as a truck traffic route; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to restrict commercial truck traffic along Forest
Street; and
WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code section 22507.5 permits cities to adopt parking
regulations by resolution; and
WHEREAS, a small trucking business named Priestley Transportation owned by Joseph
and Patricia Sanchez was established at 7760 Forest Street; and
WHEREAS, the Priestley Transportation trucking business has two commercial trucks
which utilize on-street parking on Forest Street.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GILROY pursuant to Section 15.100 of the Gilroy City Code that the following
streets and portions of streets shall constitute and are hereby designated as truck traffic routes,
and the City Administrator are hereby directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs in
conformance herewith:
1. State Route 152 on Hecker Pass from the west city limits to First Street; then on First
Street to Monterey Street; then on Monterey Street to Leavesley Road; then on
Leaveslev Road to the east city limits.

2. Monterev Street from Leavesley Road to the north city limits and from Tenth Street
to the south city limits.
3. Railroad Street from Lewis Street to Old Gilroy Street; then on Old Gilroy Street to
Alexander Street; then on Alexander Street to Tenth Street.
4. Tenth Street from Monterey Street to State Route152 - Pacheco Pass; then on State
Route152 - Pacheco Pass to the east city limits.
5. Chestnut Street from Tenth Street to Luchessa Avenue.
6. Luchessa Avenue from Monterey Street to the east city limits.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Priestley Transportation is extended a
"grandfathering" exception to prohibition of parking of its two existing commercial vehicles as
set forth in the Gilroy Municipal Code section 15.101.
This exemption shall only remain in place for the existing business (Priestley Transportation)
and existing ownership (Joseph and Patricia Sanchez). This exemption shall be revoked if the
commercial truck parking becomes a public nuisance or a public safety hazard.

attached Resolution No. 2012-06 is an original resolution, or true and correct copy of a city
resolution, duly adopted by the Council of the City of Gilroy at a regular meeting of said Council
held on the 23rd day of January, 2012, at which meeting a quorum was present.
