AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUBDIVISION NO.5 OF SECTION 240
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE' CITY OF GIIROY, RELATIVE TO mE FIRE
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF GILROY.
TEE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GIUWY DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That Subdivision 5 of Section 240 of the Municipal
W"IlI.....
Code of the City of Gilroy be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Subdivision 5. The fire limits of the city of Gilroy shall
comprise the following desoribed portions of the City of Gilroy,
to-wit: COMMENCING at a point on the Southerly line of First
Street, distant thereon 150 feet Westerly from the point of
intersection of the Southerly line of First Street with the
Westerly line of EigeJberry Street; runnil;lg thence in an Easterly
direction along the Southerly line of First Street to a point
thereon 150 feet West of the Westerly line of Monterey Street;
thence in a Northerly direction at a uniform distanoe ot 150
feet trom the Westerly line of Monterey Street to the Northerly
City Limits of the City of Gilroy; thence along the said Northerly
City Limits of the City of Gilroy in an Easterly direction to the
oenter line of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company's right-ot-
way; thence Southerly and along the said center line of the
Southern Paoific Railroad Company's right-of....ay to the center
line of Lewis Street; thenoe Easterly along the center line of
Lewis Street to the center line of Railroad Street; thence
Southerly along the center line of Railroad Street to the South-
erly line of Old Gilroy Street; and thenoe continuing on the same
course and at the same distanoe frmm the Easterly line of' Monterey
street to the Southerly City Limits of the City of Gilroy; thence
Westerly along the said Southerly City Limits of the City of
Gilroy to a point thereon 150 feet Westerly trom the Westerly
line of Monterey street, and thence in a Northerly direction at

a uniform distance of l50 feet from the Westerly line of Monterey
street to the Northerly line of Seventh street; thence in a Westerly
direction along the Northerly line of Seventh street and its continu-
ation across Eigelberry street to a point thereon distant 150 feet
from the point of intersection of the Northerly line of Seventh
Street with the Westerly line of Eigelberry street, and thence in a
Northerly direction at a uniform distance of 150 feet !ran the West-
erlt. line of Eigelberry street to the point of beginning;
ALSO commencing at a point on the Northerly line of First
street distant thereon 150 feet Easterly from the point of interseo-
tion of the Northerly line of First Street with the Easterly line of
Hanna Street and running thenoe at right angles in a Northerly direc-
tion 150 feet; thenoe in a Northwesterly direction at a uniform dis-
tanoe of 150 feet from the Northerly line of First street to the
lIo~heasterly line of Carmel street; thence in a South.aa...~ direc-
tion along the said line of Carmel street to its intersection with
the Northerly line of First Street and thence in a Nor~easterly
direction along the Northerly line of First Street to the point of
beginning.
SECTION 2. All of the building restriotions and conditions set forth
in Ordinance No. 436 of the City of Gilroy shall apply to struotures,
buildings and works within the fire distriot as established in
Section 1 of this ordinance, except in the following particulars:
(1) Any residence in existence and used as such at the time
of adoption of this ordinance! located within the boundaries
of that portion of the fire d striot included wi thin the
limits of a 0-1 District! as desoribed and olassified in
Ordinance No..i.6.8, amend ng Ordinance NO. 422 of the City
of Gilroy, may-oi remodeled or rebuilt in the event that
the same is damaged or destroyed by fire, to be used only
as a dwelling.
(2} No electric or other signs shall be placed or set above
the sidewalk or parking strip extending along the street
or in front of the property line within the limits of any
Cl Distriot as defined in said Ordinanoe No.~.
(3) The external walls of any building constructed within the
boundaries of any Cl Distriot, from and after the adoption
of this ordinanoe, shall be covered with stuoco to conform
with the existing architecture in the district as much as
possible.

SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in ~ull force
from and after its passage and approval.
SECTION 4. All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict here-
with are hereby repealed.
