AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ALTERATION OF THE
BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF GILROY BY THE ANNEXATION
OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY THERETO, DESIGNATED
AND KNOWN AS nLAS ANIMAS ESTATES," UNDER THE PROV-
ISIONS OF tt ANNEXATION OF UNINHABITED TERRITORY ACT
OF 1939tl, AND FOR THE INCORPORATION OF SAID ANNEXED
TERRITORY IN AND AS A PART OF SUCH MUNICIPALITY,
AND FOR THE DISTRICTING, GOVERNMENT, ,AND r,m:NICIPAL
C0NTROL OF SUCH ANNEXED TER~ITORY.
\VHEREAS, proceedings for the annexation of certain uninhabited
territory to the City of Gilroy, contiguous thereto, and
designated in said proceedings as "LAS ANIMAS ESTATEStl, the
boundaries of which are more particularly hereinafter set forth,
have been instituted under the provisions of the "Annexation of
Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939"; and,
WHEREAS, the proposal to annex said territory to the City of
Gilroy, together with a description of the boundaries of the said
territory, has heretofore been submitted to the Boundary Commission
of the County of Santa Clara, and said Boundary Commission has
reported apprOVing the said proposed annexation with respect to
the definiteness and certainty of the boundaries thereof; and,
\VHEREAS, the proposal to annex the said territory to the said
city of Gilroy has also been submitted to the City Planning
Commission of the City of Gilroy, which, after due hearing, has
approved the said proposed annexation and has dUly made its
report to the Common Council of the City of Gilroy approving such
annexation; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Gilroy did, on the 6th
day of September, 1955, adopt Resolution No. 357, designating the
said territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Gilroy, as
tlLAS ANIMAS ESTATES", and fixing the 24th day of October, 1955, at
the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m. of said day, in the Common Council
chambers in the City Hall, Gilroy, California, as the time and
place for the hearing of the petition and proposal for the annex-
ation of said territory, and directing that a copy of the said
resolution be published once a week for two (2) successive weeks,
with the last publication to be completed at least twenty days
before the date of hearing, in the GILROY EVENING DISPATCH, a
newspaper of general circulation, published in the City of Gilroy,
and in the MORGAN HILL TIMES, a newspaper of general circulation
published in the County of Santa Clara but outside the city limits
of the City of Gilroy, and a copy of said resolution has been
published in accordance with the said resolution and as req1ired
by law; and,
WHEREAS, the said hearing has been held in accordance with and at
the time and place fixed in the aforesaid resolution, and no
objection to the said proposed annexation having been made or
filed, and the said Common Council of the City of Gilroy finds
that the said territory proposed to be annexed is uninhabited terri-
tory, as the same is defined in the said Annexation of Uninhabited
Territory Act of 1939, and that the said annexation is desirable,
and that all the steps and proceedings, acts and conditions, re-
quired by law to exist, happen and be performed, precedent to and
in the annexation of said territory, have happened and been performed,
in due time, form and manner as required by law.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE MAYOR AND THE CO~!ON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GILROY DC ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Under the authority of the "Annexation of Uninhabited
Territory Act of 1939", as set forth in Sections 35300 to 35326
of the Government Code, there shall be and is hereby annexed to
and incorporated within the said City of Gilroy, the said territory
located in the County of Santa Clara, State of California, herein-
before and in said annexation proceedings designated as "LAS
ANIMAS ESTATES", the boundarie s of which said annexed territory
are more particularly described as follows:
Being all of Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 as shown on
"Map of Henry Miller's Subdivision of Las Animas
Ranchlot No. 23", which map is re coJded in Book "H"
of Maps, at page 5, records of Santa Clara County,
California, and being more particularly described as
follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the line common to Lots
6 and 7 with the northeasterly line ofWayland Lane as
shown on said map, from which a granite monument at the
northwesterly corner of the City of Gilroy bears N.220l5'
w. 101.28 feet, and running thence along the line common
to said Lots N.890l5'w. 802.15 feet to the corner common
to Lots 6, 7, 15, and 16 in the centerline of Wren Avenue
(shown as Avenue H on said Map); thence continuing along
the line common to Lots 15 and 16 N .89015'"#. 33.00 feet to
the intersection thereof with the westerly line of Wren
Avenue; thence along the westerly line of Wren Avenue s.oe
47'W. 1660.20 feet, more or less, to the intersection
thereof with the southerly line of the Hecker Pass Highway;
thence along the southerly line of the Hecker Pass Highway
S.890l5'E. to the intersection thereof with the south-
westerly line of Princevalle Street in the City of Gilroy
and the present corporate limits of the City of Gilroy;
thence along the said corporate limit line N.20oW. to the
northerly line of the Hecker Pass Highway; thence along the
northerly line of the Hecker Pass Highway N.890l5'E. to
the intersection thereof with the northeasterly line of
Wayland Lane as shown on map above referred to; thence
along said northeasterly line and the present corporate
limits of the City of Gilroy N.220l5'w. to the point of
beginning;
and the annexation of said territory and lands to said City of Gilroy
is hereby approved.
SECTION II: The said lands hereinbefore described hereby annexed
shall be known as "LAS ANIMAS ESTATES."
SECTION III: This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after the date of the filing of a certified copy of this
ordinance in the office of the Secretary of State.
