Ordinance 585 \. ORDINANCE NO. 585 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PARKING! PLACING AND MAINTAIN- ING OF TRAILER COACHES IN THE CITY OF uILROY. THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. DEFINITION: Trailer coach shall be defined as a vehicle with or with- out motive power designed for human habitation and for carry- ing persons and property on its own structure, whether being drawn by motor or other means. SECTION II. It shall be unlawful for any person to park, place, keep or maintain or permit to be parked, placed, kept or maintained any trailer coach upon any lot, piece or parcel of land in the City of Gilroy other than in trailer camps, except as hereinafter provided. (a) One trailer coach twenty feet (20') or less in length may be parked, placed, kept or maintained in the rear of any residential building other than an apartment, motel, hotel or duplex prtovided. (1) Such trailer coach shall be located at least five feet (5') from any property line, at least ten feet (10') from ~ny building used for living purposes, and at least five feet (5') from any other building attached to a building used for living purposes, and (2) Such trailer coach shall not be used for living or sleeping quarters at any time. (b) This section shall not be construed to prohibit the parking of one (1) trailer coach completely within any garage appurtenant to any residential building other than an apartment, motel, hotel or duplex. (c) This section shall not be construed to prohibit the temporary parking for a period not exceeding seven (7) days of any trailer coach twent; feet (20') or less in length in the driveway of any residential building other than an 5c?S- apartment, motel, hotel or duplex. SECTION III. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional, such deci- sion shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. The City Council hereby expressly declares that it would have passed and adopted this ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence, clause, and phrase hereof ir- respective of the fact that anyone or more of said sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases hereof be held un- constitutional. SECTION LV. Any person violating this ordinance or any part thereof shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall pay a fine not in excess of one hundred dol- lars ($100.00) or be imprisoned in the city jail for a period of not more than thirty (30) days, or both such fine and im- prisonment. SECTION V. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval. SECTION VI. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
