AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING ORDI-
NANCE NO. 479~ ESTABLISHING THE OFFICE OF WATER COLLECTOR. PROVIDING
FOR THE DUTIES THEREOF AND ESTABLISHING REGULATIONS, RULESq RATES,
CHARGES, FEESg SERVICES AND PENALTIES FOR THE USE OF WATER SUPPLIED
BY OR THROUGH THE WATER DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF GILROY BY AMENDING
SECTION 5 OF SAID ORDINANCE RELATING TO RATES AND CHARGES.
SECTION 1.
Section 5 of Ordinance Noo 479 of the City of Gilroy is
hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 50 RATES AND CHARGES. The following rates and
charges are hereby fixed and established and shall be paid by con-
sumers and shall be collected by the Water Department" as follows :
(a) Rates and charges for metered water sold within the City Limits
for all uses:

For an unmetered service a flat rate of $1.50 per month shall
prevailo
Where the period of service is less than one full month and
the water consumed is less than the minimum: the minimum charge shall
prevailg and if water consumeq is more than the minimum1 the meter
reading shall prevail.
(p) Charges for installation for water services within the city limits
for all uses shall be a service charge as follows.. to be paid at time
of application:

Where a metered service already exists, a service charge of
$1000 shall be paid by each applicant at the time of applying for

service.
(bl) The cost to the consumer for replacing a 3/4" or larger meter
with a larger meter within the City Limits shall be the difference
in the service charge between the meter to be replaced and the
larger meter to be installedo
(b2) Meters or services moved for the convenience of the customer
within the City Limits will be relocated at the customer[s expense
for all materials and labor.
(b3) Where a I" unmetered service exists anywhere within the City
Limits of the City of Gilroy, the following charges shall be made
and collected for installing meters to be paid at time application
for installation is madeo

(d) Charges for installation of a water service without the City
Limits where an existing water main is available.. shall be as follows:
The charge for installing a water service outside the City
Limits shall be the cost of labor and material necessary to install
the serviceo
Labor charges will be based on wage scale of man performing
Cost of materials; including all pipes.. fittings.. meter..
meter box.. material:- etcot necessary to install a service from
labor.

water main to and including meter, will be based on cost of material
to the City. The Superintendent shall make an estimate of the
cost of the service to be installed and the applicant shall make
a deposit of this amount with the Water Collector at the time of
application.. any over charge will be refunded and any under charge
will be billed to the applicant on completion of installation.
(dl) The cost to the consumer without the City Limits for replacing
a 3/4" or larger meter with a larger meter shall be the cost of all
materials and labor, less larger meter and meter box.. plus the
difference between the cost of the larger meter and meter box and
the meter and meter box to be replaced.
(d2) Meters or services moved for the convenience of the customer
without the City Limits shall be relocated at the customerls expense
for all materials and laboro
(e) No person may take water from an unmetered outlet of the water
system without making application to and receiving permission from
the Chief Administrative Officero
The applicant receiving such permission must keep account of
water used in M gals., and statement of this amount.. subject to check
by the Superintendent, must be presented to the Water Collector every
30 dayso
The applicant will make a deposit of $5.00 with the Chief
Administrative officer at time of applicationo
The charge for water thus used shall be .20 cents per M. galso
Applicant will furnish his own wrench and hose to take water
from unmetered outlets and this equipment will be subject to the
approval of the Superintendento
(f) Where property is located both inside and outside the City
Limits the rate for metered water will be as,follows:

( g) Where property is located both inside and outside the City
Limits the Service Charge for installing a Water Service will be the

(gl) The cost to the consumer whose property is located both within
and without the City Limits for replacing a 3/4" or larger meter with
a larger meter shall be the same as the cost to the consumer whose
property is within the City Limits.
(g2) Meters or services moved for the convenience of the customer
whose property is located both within and without the City Limits
shall be relocated at the customerts expense for all materials and
labor 0
SECTION 20 All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealedo
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its passage and approval.
