ORDINANCE NO. 624
ORDINANCE NO. 624 OF THE CITY OF GILROY DESIGNATING
OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES ~~10 MUST BE BONDED AND FIXING
AMOUNT AND CR~RACTER OF SUCH BONDJDECLARING AN E~~RGENCY
EXISTS AND TR~T ORDINANCE IS TO TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY.
The Council of the City of Gilroy does ordain as follows:
Section~. The following officials of the City of Gilroy
shall be bonded with a Statutory Public Officials Bond which shall
include faithful performance provisions or conditions, in the following
amounts:

Said bond shall be so written as to include provisions consti-
tuting a "Public Employees' Honesty Blanket Position Bond" in amount of
$2,500.00 covering such officers and employees in all City offices and
departments as may be designated by the Council.
Section 2. All bonds hereinbefore specified shall indemnify
the City of Gilroy against loss up to the penal sum of the bond relating
to such loss, and the premium on the bond shall be paid by the City of
Gilroy. All bonds shall be executed by a responsible corporate surety
whose financial standing and qualifications shall be approved by the
City Administrator.
Section~. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance is an emergency measure necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety of the
City of Gilroy within the meaning of Section 602 of the City Charter, and
shall go into immediate effect. The facts constituting such necessity are:
The officials and employees mentioned wi.thin this ordinance have
custody or care of the funds and securities of the City of Gilroy, and at
times are in possession or have under their control monies and/or securities
of $300,000 to $400,000 in value, and it is essential for the protection of

the City of Gilroy and its taxpayers that those persons having
control of funds or monies of such extent be properly bonded, and
there is no present ordinance of the City of Gilroy requiring that
bonds be furnished in an amount that is sufficient to provide protec-
tion for the City of Gilroy.
