ORDINANCE NO. 6'3~.
ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <F GILROY
F~XING RAX RATES FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR
1960-1961
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted Ordinance No. '3/
fixing the amount of revenue from property taxes necessary to
support its departments for the current year 1960-1961 and to
pay the bonded and other ~ndebtedness of the City or any portion
or district of the City, and
WHEREAS, Section 51511 of the Government Code requires
that the City Legislative body annually before September 1st fix
the rate of taxes or rates of taxes if different portions or dis-
tricts require different rates, designated in the number of cents
upon each $100.00, using as a basis the value of the property as
assessed and equalized, which rates shall be sufficient to raise the
amount fixed by ordinance or resolution and the expenses of co11ec-
tion, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted Ordinance No.~3J
fixing the amount of revenue required to support its departments for
the current year at the sum of $155,494.00, and to raise the said
sum will require a tax rate for the current fiscal year of $1.40
on property within the original city limits and $1.38 in annexed
territories now forming a part of the City, for each $100.00 value
of property as assessed and equalized and said rates should be
adopted as the tax rates for said current fiscal year,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the tax rates for the
fiscal year 1960-1961 for the City of Gilroy shall be $1.40 on
property within the original city limits and $1.38 on property in
the annexed areas, for each $100.00 value of property CIS. 'assessed
and equalized, and that there shall be immediately transmitted to

the County Auditor or County official performing the duties of
a County Auditor, a statement of the tax rates as herein fixed.
For the reason that Article VI of the Gilroy Charter provides that
an ordinance declaring the amount of money necessary to be raised
for taxation or fixing the rate of taxation or 'levying the annual
tax upon property, need not be published and can be made effective
immediately upon adoption, this ordinance shall take effect from
and after its adoption and approval, and there shall be no pub1i-
cation of this ordinance.
