ORDINANCE NO. 659

ORf>fNANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY FIXING AMOUNT OF REVENUE FROM
PROPERTY TAXES NECESSARY TO SUPPORT ITS DEPARTMENTS FOR THE CURRENT YEAR,
1961-l962, AND TO PAY THE BONDED ANf> OTHER INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Gilroy, predecessor of the
present City CouncIl, heretofore transferred the duties of the Assessor and
Tax Collector to the County Assessor and County Tax Collector of the County
of Santa Clara In accordance with SectIons 51500 to 51518 of the Government
Code; and
WHEREAS, Section 51508 of saId Code requIres that the legIslatIve
body of the City shall determIne by ordInance or resolutIQn, prior to the
fixing of the tax rate for the current year, the amount Of reVenue from pro-
perty taxes necessary to support its departments fQr the current year and to
pay the bonded or other Indebtedness of the CIty; and
WHEREAS, the CouncIl of the CIty of Gilroy has not yet fIxed the
tax rate for the year 1961-1962, b~t wIll do so following the adoption of
this ordinance,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Council of the City of Gilroy,
as follows:
SectIon ~ That the Council of the City of Gilroy does hereby fix
the amount of revenue from property taxes necessary to support Its depart-
ments for the current year, and to pay the bonded and other Indebtedness of
the City or any portion or district of the CIty, at the sum of $158,667.00.
SectIon 2. For the reason that ArtIcle VI of the GIlroy Charter pro-

vides that an ordInan~e declaring the amount of money necessary to be raised
for taxatIon or fixing the rate of ~axatIon or leyying the annual tax upon
property, need not be publIshed and can be made effectIve ImmedIately upon
adoption, thIs ordinance shall take effect from and after its adoptIon and
approval, and there shall be no publIcatIon of thIs ordinan~e.
