AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GILROY AMENDING THE
ZONING ORDINANCE OF SAID CITY BY REZONING A PORTION
OF THE FIFTH NORTHERN ADDITION AND OF THE MONTEREY
NORTHWEST ANNEXATION NO. 1 FROM Rl DISTRICT TO R3
DISTRICT II AND ANOTHER PORTION OF FIFTH NORTHERN ADDI-
TION FROM Rl TO C2 DISTRICT, AND REMAINING AREA OF
FIFTH NORTHERN ADDITION AND MONTEREY NORTHWEST ANNEXA-
TION NOo 1 FROM Rl DISTRICT TO M2 DISTRICTt WITH
REZONED AREAS TO BE ;SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS OF lIS"
ZONES
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Gilroy has
reported to the Council of the City of Gilroy upon its own pro-
posal to rezone property of the City of Gilroy as follows:
(1) That the following described premises located in the
City of Gilroy be rezoned from Rl (Single Family Resi-
dential) District to C2 (General Commercial} District:
BEING a portion of the Las Animas Ranchlot 25 of the Las
Animas Rancho as shown on Map No. 7 accompanying the
Final Report of the Referees in the Las Animas Rancho
Partition Suit, Action No. 5536 had in the Superior Court
of the State of California, in and for the County of Santa
Clara, and more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the southwesterly line of
Monterey Road, at the intersection thereof with the
northerly line of the Second Northern Addition to the
City of Gilroy as described in Ordinance No. 536 of
said City adopted November 21, 1955, and running thence
along said northerly line S. 880 36t w. to a point that
is 150 feet on a line at right angles to and from the
westerly line of Monterey Roadi thence North 220 191:30"
W. parallel with the westerly line of Monterey Road to a
point on the northerly line of that certain 9.537 acre
parcel of land as shown on a Record of Survey Map
recorded in Book 129 of Maps at Page 23, Santa Clara County
Records and thence in an easterly direction along the said
northerly line of said 9.537 acre parcel of land to the
westerly line of Monterey Road and thence along the
westerly line of Monterey Road in a southeasterly direction
to the point of beginning.
(2) That the following described premises located in the City
of Gilroy be rezoned from Rl (Single Family Residential)
District to R3 (Low Density Multiple Residential) District:
BEING a portIDn of the Las Animas Ranchlot 25 of the Las
Animas Rancho as shown on Map No. 7 accompanying the Final
Report of the Referees in the Las Animas Rancho Partition
Suit, Action No. 5536 had in the Superior Court of the State
of California, in and for the County of Santa Clara, and more
particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the easterly line of Church Street
as shown on the Plan Line thereof recorded in Book 3 of
Official Plan Lines at Page 8 Santa Clara County Records at
the intersection thereof with the Northerly line of Fifth
Northerly Addition to the City of Gilroy as described in

Ordinance No. 708 of said city, adopted September 3, 1963,
and running thence along said northerly line, northeasterly,
to a point which is 150.00 feet distant at right angles from
said easterly line of Church Street; thence southeasterly
along a line parallel and 150.00 feet northeasterly at right
angles from said easterly line to a point in the northerly
line of the Second Northern Addition to the City of Gilroy
as described in Ordinance No. 536 of said City adopted
November 21, 1955; thence running along said northerly line
southeasterly, to the intersection thereof with the north-
easterly line of Church street as designated on said Offi-
cial Plan LInes; thence along the northeasterly line thereof
to the point of beginning.
(3) That the following described premises located in the City
of Gilroy be rezoned from Rl (Single Family Residential)
District to M2 (Light Industrial) District:
BEING a portion of the Las Animas Ranchlot 25 of the Las
Animas Rancho as shown on Map No. 7 accompanying the Final
Report of the Referees in the Las Animas Rancho Partition
Suit, Action No. 5536 had in the Superior Court of the State
of California, in and for the County of Santa Clara, and
more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point on the northerly line of the Second
Northern Addition to the City of Gilroy as described in
Ordinance No. 536 of said City adopted November 21, 1955,
distant thereon 150 feet measured on a line at right angles
to and from the southwesterly line of Monterey Road, and
running thence along said northerly line, S. 880 36154" W.
to the intersection thereof with a line parallel with and
150.00 feet distant northeasterly at right angles from the
northeasterly line of Church Street as designated on the
Plan Line thereof in Book 3 of Official Plan Lines at Page
8, Santa Clara County Records; thence along a line parallel
with said northeasterly line of Church Street and distant
150.00 feet northeasterly at right angles therefrom North-
westerly to the intersection thereof with the northerly
line of Fifth Northern Addition to the City of Gilroy as
described in Ordinance No. 708 of said City~ adopted
September 3, 1963; thence along said northerly line N. 880
3S! E. to the most northerly corner thereof; thence S. 220
17~ E. 483.68 feet; thence No. 880 391 E. to a point that
is on a line running north 220 19' 30" West from the point
of beginning and thence in a southeasterly direction parallel
with the westerly line of the Monterey Road to the point of
beginning;
and
WHEREASt it appears that the said Planning Commission has
held a public hearing upon its said proposal for the said rezoning
and that in the said report of said hearing that it recommends that
the Council of the City of Gilroy rezone the said premises herein-
before described, in accordance with the said recommendation; and
WHEREASz the Council of the City of Gilroy has heretofore fixed
Monday, the 6th day of December, 1965, at the hour of 8:00 o!clock,
p.m., in the Council Chambers in the City Hall at No. 10 South
Rosanna Street, GilroYI California, as the time and place of the

public hearing before the Council upon the said proposed and
recommended rezoning, and notice of said public hearing has been
given in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance of the city of Gilroy
and with law, and the said public hearing has been held; and
WHEREAS, the Council, after hearing the evidence presented at
the said public hearing, has determined that the said Zoning
Ordinance should be amend=d in accordance with the report and
recommendation of the said Planning Commission,
NOW THEREFOREr THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section II Ordinance No. 422, the Zoning Ordinance of the
City of Gilroy, be and the same is hereby amended as follows:
(a) The premises hereinbefore described in Paragraph or
Section (1) of the preamble to this Ordinance are hereby
rezoned from Rl (Single Family Residential) District to
C2 (General Commercial) District.
(b) The premises hereinbefore described in Paragraph or
Section (2) of the preamble to this Ordinance are hereby
rezoned from Rl (Single Family Residential) District to
R3 (Low Density Multiple Residential) District.
(c) The premises hereinbefore described in Paragraph or
Section {3} of the preamble to this Ordinance are hereby
rezoned from Rl (Single Family Residential) District to
M2 {Light Industrial} District
(d) All of said premises shall be subject to the regula-
tions of "Sit Zone or District, as set forth in the Zoning
Ordinance of the City of Gilroy.
Section II: The Zoning Map of the City of Gilroy, to which
reference is hereby made for further particulars, shall be changed
to reflect the changes in the Zoning Ordinance made by this Ordinance.
Section III: All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section IV: This ordinance shall take effect and be in full

force thirty (30) days from and after its passage and approval.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Council of the city of Gilroy
on the 20th day of December, 1965 t by the following vote:
