ORDINANCE NO. 822
AN ORDINANCE DISCONTINUING THE
PUBLIC LIBRARY HERETOFORE ESTABLISHED
AND MAINTAINED BY THE CITY OF GILROY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Sec. 2.11 of the Gilroy City Code, enacted as
Ordinance No. 203, Ii, is hereby repealed.
SECTION II. This is an Emergency Ordinance which shall
take effect immediately upon its passage and approval. The
facts and circumstances giving rise to the emergency are as
follows:
The Council of the City of Gilroy and the Board
of Supervisors of Santa Clara County have, by
duly adopted resolutions, approved a plan for
consolidating the Gilroy City Library with the
Santa Clara County Library, pursuant to which
the Santa Clara County Library assumes operation
of library services and facilities in Gilroy
July 1, 1968. This ordinance is necessary to
provide better library service for the general
welfare, since the County of Santa Clara cannot
provide library service to a City maintaining
its own library.
This Ordinance was introduced as an emergency measure and
passed and adopted to become effective immediately and ordered
published by title and summary in accordance with provisions
of the City Charter at a regular session of the City Council
held on the 1st day of July, 1968, by the following vote:
