Gilroy, California. July 17th, 1929.
The regular adjourned meeting of July first, 1929, was called
to order by His Honor Mayor Jas. Princevalle.
Present Councilmen Wal~er G. Fitzgerald, E. Martin JOhnson,
Irvin HOllister, Elmer J. Chesbro; Absent Councilmen Chas. E.
Fredrickson, John A. Clark.
Protests against thickness of paving were duly presented.
Motion by Elmer J. Chesbro, seconded by E. Martin Johnson
that the protest petition be referred to the Street Committee
and City Engineer to check upon same and that names of those who
originally signed the petitions for paving be kept separate.
The C,ity Engineer reported that Chas. E. Prentiss of .San
Jose was the low bidder on storm sewer.
Motion by Irvin Hollister seconded by Elmer J. Chesbro that
ReSOlution No. 25-1929, be passed and adopted.
RESOLUTION NO. 25-1929.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Common Council of the Gity of Gilroy,
did, in open session, publicly open, examine and declare all bids
and proposals received for certain work to be done and improvement
to be made in the said City, as described in the Resolution of In-
tention No. 3-1929 of the Mayor and Common Council, passed on the
13th day of May, 1929, hereby referred to for further description,
and find that the bid of <1has. E. Prentiss to be the lowest,
Now, Therefore, Be It RESOLVED, That the Mayor and Common
Council of the City of Gilroy does hereby reject all of said pro-
posals or bids, except the ope herein mentioned, and does hereby
award the contract for doing the said work. and improvement to the
lowest, regular, responsible bidder,to-wit: Chas. E. Prentiss, at
the price named in its proposal or bids;
Be It Further RESOLVED, That the City a.lerk of the City of
Gilroy is hereby directed to return to the parties filing the
same, the bond or check accompanying all of said proposals or

bids rejected, as aforesaid, and to hold the bond or check ac-
companying said proposal or bid of Ohas. E. Prentiss, accepted
as aforesaid, until a contract is duly entered into for doing said
work and making said improvement by said named bidder;
Be It Further RESOLVED, That the Oity Clerk of the aity of
Gilroy is hereby directed to post notice of this award conspicu-
ously for five days on or near the chamber door of the Council
Chamber of said Mayor and Common Council, and also publiSh said
notice twice in the uGilroy Evening Dispatchl1, a daily newspaper
of general circulation, published and circulated in said City,
and hereby designated for that purpose by said Mayor and Common
Council.
VOTE: Ayes, Councilmen Walter G. Fitzgerald, E. Martin
Johnson, Irvin Hollister, Elmer J. Chesbro; Noes, Councilmen
None; Absent Councilmen Chas. E. FredriCkson, John A. Clark.
Motion by Chesbro, seconded by Hollister and carried:
That bill of B. Barshinger & Son for $338.40 for opera Chairs
be allowed and warrant ordered drawn.
Motion by Chesbro, seconded by Johnson and carried: That
matter of shed on City Lot for housing trucks be left with the
Fire Department Committee.
