This regular adjourned meeting of the Common Council is called to
order b. His Honor 1~yor S.D.Heck,all members being present.
Present: Councilmen: George C.Milias,Jr. ,Jack Rogers,James Battersby,
George A.Martin,George M.Mason,Nat Heiner.
Absent: Councilmen: None.
Mrs.Rose W.Hendee,associate director,Citizens' League on Government
and Taxation, appears before the Council and reads a report on the
garbage disposal contract.
A bid for the garbage disposal contract from Richard Piedmont,offering
$80.00 per month for the exclusive right to collect and dispose of
garbage,is presented and read. This bid is accompanied by a ~ashierts
check in the amount of $lOO.OO.
Motion by Councilman Milias,seconded by Councilman l~artin and carried
unanimously that the Mayor appoint a committee of three prominent
citizens and taxpayers o~ this city to compose a fact finding body to
report to the Council with their recommendations as to what shall be
done as to accepting present offers for garbage disposal.

Councilman Heiner discusses a permit for Mrs.V.R.McAlpine to make
certain improvements to the front of her buildings at 75 and 73 North
Monterey Street.
A petition signed by eleven residents and freeholders on Monterey
Street,requesting the enactment of a Building Ordinance,is presented
and read.

Motion by Councilman Milias,seconded by Councilman Rogers and aarried
unanimously that a permit be granted to Mrs.V.R.McAlpine to stucco
the second story of her buildings at 75 and 73 North Monterey Street.
The City Attorney is instructed to draw up a Building Ordinance.

Bills for material and labor for repairing the County tractor W?rk~~
on the Carnadero Levee job are discussed. The matter of payment of
these bills is to be investigated.
Councilman Mason discusses the request for change in water rates

for property owners residing on the South side of Tenth Street. Action
on th1s matter is deferred to the next regular meeting.
The matter of grading and levelling lfurth Chestnut Street is dis-
cussed. This matter is laid over to a later date.
Councilman kason reports the Safety Council desires to place bicycle
racks on Monterey Street. No action is taken.
Councilman Rogers discusses the purchase of an automobile for use
of the Po~ice Department. This matter is to be taken up at the next
regular meeting.
