This regular adjourned meeting of the Con~on Council is called
to order by His Honor 1~yor S.D.Heck.
Present:Cpuncilmen:George C.Milias,Jr.,Jack Rogers,George M.
Mason,~at Heiner. Absent:Councilmen:James Battersby,Gearge A.
Martin.
1~.John B.Gill representing the Johns-Manville Co. appears before
the Council to discuss the use of transite pipe in the proposed
extension ot the water system.
Mr.Ray Hausman,representing the United states Pipe and Foundry
Co. ,appears before the Council to discuss the use of cast iron
pipe in the proposed extension of the water system.
This being the time specified for opening bids for 2,285 feet
of 8 inch,l8 foot lengths,of cast iron pipe,four bids are presented
and read:

'Motion By Councilman Milias,seoonded by Councilman Rogers and
carried unanimously that the bid of the United States Pipe and
Foundry Company of #2,551.18 for 2,286 teet of 8 inch,l8 foot
lengths,class 150 cast iron pipe,be accepted, their bid being the
lowest and best bid.
The Service Trenching Company of San Jose presentse proposal
to do approximately 2,285 feet of trenching for the new water
line @ $.04 per toot. No action is taken.
Councilman Rogers discusses the placing of street lites at
Carmel and First Street and Princevalle and First Streets.No
objection being made the Lighting Committee is instructed to
proceed in this matter.
Councilman Heiner discusses the request for the ereotion ot a
building in the rear of l21 South Monterey street. The proposal,
as presented,is rejected.
The Clerk is instruoted to notify the Shell Oil Company and
J.L.Harrigan,the owner of a service station at the southwest corner
of Ninth & Monterey streets.to; remove the wooden sign that extends
from the service station building to to outside edge of the side-
we lk.
