This regular adjourned meeting of the Common Council is called to
order by His Honor Mayor George C.Milias.
Present:Councilmen J.H.Wentworth,David V.Stout,Dale D.Dan1els,
Carl W.Pate. Absent:Councilmen George M.Mason,James B.Thomas.

ApproximatelY eigh~persons are assembled for this meeting as the
Mayor announces that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss the
proposed widening of Monterey Street. The Mayor reviews the subject
from its inception giving details of the several meetings he had had
with Col.Jno.H.Skeggs,Assistant State Highways Engineerthe last meet-
meeting being attended by the Mayor and Councilman Daniels.
The Mayor now calls upon any person present to discuss the project
and ask any questions they desired. The following responded to the
Mayor's invination: Jerome,Chappell,High Hersman,Courtland Rush,
Elmer Steinmetz,O.K.Baxter,D.H.Chesbro, Justin Byers,Gus Brodersen,
Doris W~lliams and other$.
At the conclusion of the question period the Mayor requests the
Council to discuss the matter.
Motion by Councilman Daniels, seconded by Councilman Stout and
carried that the Council go on record as favoring the widening of
Monterey Street as discussed by the Mayor and Division of Highways,
Engineer, and that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up a Sales

ordinance to be patterned after the State Sales Tax on the basis of
of ~ of l%~ the Sales Tax^ ordinance to become effective January 1,
1951.
The eity;Clerk now administers the Loyalty Oath to the Mayor,a.;(
members of the Council present and the City Attorney.
