This regular adj ourned meeting of the COl'lTYlon Coun cil is called to order by His
Honor i;;ayor George C .Eilias.
Present:Councilmen Carl W.Pate,Courtland M.Rush,J.Hughes Kennedy,Charles Gallo,
Georo;e W.\-Ihite,Jack W.Ronald.
A petition signed by 30 !:lonterey street property owners and eight tennants of
j',onterey street property urging the Mayor and Common Council "to resist all efforts
and demands of the state Highway Cow~ission to erect a concrete strip in the center
of Honterey High\-lay and cut four feet from the sidewalks"; also, "we are ,however, in
favor of improving Monterey street and feel that a Sales Tax for this purpose is
equitable. li[e also feel that some sidewalk could be given up to provide more park-
ing space and modernize the curb."
Motion by Councilman Rush,seconded by Councilman Gallo and carried that the
petition as presented be read.
The Clerk now proceeds to read the petition.
i'lotion by Councilman Pate, seconded b;y Councilman Gallo and carried that the
petition as presented be tabled for a future meeting.
