This meeting called by the legal publication in the Gilroy Dispatch
calling for bids for the 8th Street Storm Sewer is aalled to order
by His Honor Mayor George C.Mi1ias.
Present:Co~cilmen CarlW.Pate,Courtland M.RuSh,Char1es Gallo,George
W.White,Jack VI.Ronald. Absent:Councilman J.Hughes Kennedy.
The Mayor announces that the purpose of this meeting is to open and J. .
consider bids for the construction of the 8th Street Storm Sewer.' ..
The Mayor asks if there is anyone present who has not had sufficient
time to figure their bid. No statement is made by any person present
that they have not had sufficient time to figure t heir bid.
E~ftBllbids are presented and read, each bid being on "alternates It At'
and "B".
It appearing that the bid of P.& E.,Inc.is the lowest the City
Attorney and the City Engineer are instructed to check this bid to
ascertain if figures are correct.
Councilman Rush discusses the matter of increased cost of the
project and states that he be1ievesx the State should assume any
additional expense connected with the project.
The City Engineer and City A\ttorney report that P. & E. ,Inc.bid
is in proper form and figured correctly.

Motion by Councilman Whit~,seconded by Councilman Pate and carried
that the bid of $77,570.90 on alternate liB- submitted by P. & E.,Inc.
be accepted as the lowest and best bid for the Eighth Street Storm
Sewer.
Mr.Edward Peterman,representing the local air force unit now
appears before t he Council to request the use of several parking
spaces on Martin Street,between Monterey and Railttad Streets~for,an
afri?, force exhibit. on. May 18,1954.
Motion by Councilman Pate,seconded by Councilman Ronald and carried
that the request for space on Martin Street,as requested by Mr.
Peterman, for an air' force exhibit on May 18,1954, be granted.
Councilman Pate discusses the breaking of sewer and water services
by contractors. It is unanimously agreed that the contractor should
pay for all damage to sewer and water service s damaged during any
]
construction work.
The Mayor now declares this meeting adjourned.
