This special meeting of the Common Council is called to order
by His Honor Mayor George C. Milias.
Present: Councilmen Carl W. Pate, Courtland M. Rush, Kenneth
Petersen, Everett Wentworth, Charles Gallo and Sig Sanchez.
The Mayor states that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss
the proposed contract for the swimming pool.
Councilman Sanchez states that the Recreation Committee had
met with Mr. Richards, the architect, this afternoon.
The City Attorney states that the contract must be awarded
and signed by the contractor before any changes, if any are made,
in the specifications.
TI1e Mayor asks Mr. Quartiroli, the contractor, and Mr. Richards,
the architect, that if the changes contemplated are agreeable with
the State Department of Architecture, that these changes are agree-
able with them. Both Mr. Richards and Mr. Quartiroli answer, "yes".
Dr. Harold Long, Superintendent of Schools, asks if the loca-
tion of the swimming pool should not be mentioned in the agreement
between the City and the High School District.
It is decided that a record in these minutes showing that the
City accepts the location on High School Property for the location
of a swimming pool would be sufficient.

Motion by Councilman Sanchez, second by Councilman Wentworth and
carried that the Common Council accepts in whole, the agreement,
heretofore made, between the City and the Gilroy Union High School
District for the construction and the cooperative use of a swimming
pool located on property belonging to the Gilroy Union High School
District, on I.O.O.F. Avenue.
The City Clerk is instructed to notify the Board of Trustees
of the Gilroy Union High School District of the acceptance of the
location for the swimming pool.
Motion by Councilman Rush, second by Councilman Petersen and
carried that the bid for the construction of a swimming pool from
Blue Line Pools for the sum of $54,600.00 be rejected because there
was not included therein the required list of sub-contractors.
Motion by Councilman Sanche~, second by Councilman Pate 8nd
carried that the contract for the construction of a swimming pool
on the High School Property on I.O.O.F. Avenue be awarded to Atlas
Pools of Gilroy for the sum of $58,000.00, this being the second
Im.vest bid.
Motion by Councilman Pate, second by Councilman Rush and carried
that Byron Brown act as inspector for the City on the construction of
the swimming pool.
There being no further business the special meeting is adjourned.
