The regular adjourned Council Meeting was called to order by His Honor
Kenneth L. Petersen at 8:02 p.m.
Present: Counci 1 Memhers: John E. A llemand, Chester R. Eckard, Norman
B. Goodrich, Charles F. Quartiroli, Everett C. Wentworth, and Kenneth L. Petersen.
Absent: Council Member: George T. Duffin.
The Mayor stated that the purpose of this meeting was to discuss CATV
(Community Antenna Television System) re: 2 City Franchise application requests.
City Administrator Wood presented and read a report on the subject of
CATV Systems and recommended that the Council adopt a CATV Franchise Ordinance and
accept bi~s for said Franchise after adoption of said ordinance.
Discussion was had.
Messrs. Kent Riley, Larry Frisone, Dennis DeBell, and Frank Caliri pre-
sent in the audience, entered into said discussion with the Council.
Mr. Dick Crowe, Manager of the Gilroy Telephone Company, addressed the
Council and explained his Company.s position in the matter of CATV Systems.
, Motion was made by Councilman Quartiroli seconded by Councilman Eckard
and carried that Staff be instructed to prepare a CATV Franchise Ordinance for
introduction before the Council.
Further discussion was had from Mr. Kent Riley re: type of service ex-
pected to be realized from C.A.T.V. System.
Discussion was had regarding the Street Improvemen,t requirements for
the Industrial site on Luchessa Avenue.
Motion was made by Councilman Wentworth seconded by Councilman Allemand
and carried that said Street Improvements provide for a 4-lane traffic carrier
with no parking, a 5 foot "industrial sweepll curb from the curb line to the property
line and a landscaped median strip at the center line.
The Mayor reported that local prune farmers have complained about the
truck route recently established.
Discussion was had.
Motion was made by Counci lman Quartrroli seconded by Councilman Went-
worth and carried that Staff be instructed to prepare an Emergency Ordinance limit-
ing weight of trucks on Forest Street between Old Gilroy and Lewis Streets to
20,000 lbs. gross for adoption at the next Council Meeting. Said ordinance would
believe to correct the situation noted by the local prune farmers.
City Administrator Wood reported on the proposed Joint Sewer plan with
the City of Morgan Hill and recommended appointment of a Citizens. Sewer Study
Advisory Committee to study the A.D. Little and Hanna and McKinney Sewer Reports
and to report their findings to the City Council.
Discussion was had.
Motion was made by Councilman Wentworth seconded by Councilman Allemand
and carried that each Councilman select 2 names, Mayor to select 3, by September
7, 1965 for appointment to a Citizens' Sewer Study Advisory Committee to study the
A.D. Little and Hanna and McKinney Sewer Reports and to report their findings to
the Council.
Mayor Petersen left the Council Meeting at 10:39 p.m. Mayor Protempore
Wentworth presided.
The City Engineer explained the location and size of the proposed Sewer
and Water Facilities at Gavilan College.
City Administrator Wood presented and read the proposed Sewer Agreement
for Gavilan College.
Discussion was had.
City Administrator Wood presented and read the proposed Water Agreement
for Gavilan College.
Discussion was had.
Motion was made by Councilman Goodrich seconded by Councilman Allemand
and carried that the Water Agreement as presented be ap~roved subject to clarifica-
tion of Paragraph 6 requiring the College to provide a useable well.
The City Attorney presented and read Resolution No. 956.
Motion was made by Councilman Quartiroli seconded by Councilman Eckard
to adopt Resolution No. 956.

RESOLUTION OF COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE CITY OF GILROY AND THE GAVILAN JOINT JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT RELATING
TO CONSTRUCTION AND USE OF SEWER LINE ON THE GAVILAN COLLEGE CAMPUS AND THE CITY
OF GILROY SEWER SYSTEM.

Motion was made by Councilman Eckard seconded by Councilman Goodrich
that the reading of Resolution No. 957 be waived and that it be adopted.

RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF GILROY AND THE GAVILAN JOINT JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT RELATING TO
THE COOPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT AND USE OF WATER FROM A WELL ON THE GAVILAN JUNIOR
COLLEGE CAMPUS AND CONSENTING TO THE EXECUTION OF SAID AGREEMENT BY THE MAYOR
OF SA I D C ITY.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of August, 1965, by the following vote:

The matter of preparation of an ordinance establishing a 2 hour parking
limit on the proposed parking lots for Parking District #1 was referred to Staff.
Mayor protempore Wentworth noted the Inter-City Council Meeting of
September 2, 1965 at the Hecker Pass Inn hosted by the City of Gilroy.
The City Engineer invited those interested to tour the Gavilan College
site.
At 11:11 p.m. motion was made by Councilman Goodrich seconded bY-founcil-
