The Adjourned Meeting of the Gilroy City Council was called
to order by His Honor Mayor Norman B. Goodrich at 4:05 p.m.
Present: Council Members: John E. Allemand, George T. Duf-
fin, Charles F. Quartiroli, Anthony C. Sjlva, Everett C. Wentworth,
and Norman B. Goodrich.
Absent: Council Member: Mark E. Kennedy.
The Mayor stated that the purpose of this meeting was to
continue the discussion of Gilroy's Cost Share in regard to the Joint
Morgan Hill-Gilroy Sewer Agreement.
City Administrator Wood presented a report of prior Council
action in regard to said Sewer Agreement from November 1964 to the
curren t date.
Councilman Kennedy entered at 4:08 p.m. and took his seat
at the Council table.
City Administrator Wood continued the report in regard to
the Sewer Agreement.
Discussion was had in regard to the City of Gilroy.s esti-
mated and actual costs of the Joint Sewer Project. Discussion was
had in reg~rd to that portion of the Joint Sewer Project from
Cal ifornia to Highland Avenue. It was noted that said portion of
the 1 ine is not included in the Joint Sewer Agreement. Council
agreed to follow the Joint Sewer Agreementas written and signed
and possibly negotiate with the City of Morgan Hill for that portion
of said sewer line from Cal ifornia to Highland Avenue for a percen-
tage of the benefit the City of Gilroy would derive from use of
said portion of the line.
Discussion was had in regard to one (1) residential sewer
hook-up granted to each of two property owners for right-ofways
required for the joint sewer Jine project.
The Mayor noted that the $100,000.00 figure quoted by the
City of Morgan Hill as the City of Gilroy's share, and queted by

Councilman Wentworth, for the Joint Sewer Line Project was a pre-
1 iminary estimate prior to receipt of the actual bid prices. That
this information should be given to Mayor of Morgan Hill clarifying
the same. That Gilroy's committment historically and be agreement
is to be based upon the actual bid prices. It was also noted that
the City of Gilroy only agreed to pay oversizing costs of said joint
sewer 1 ine, and at no time did the City of Gilroy ever agree to
pay costs on a benefit basis.
Council agreed to consider not charging the City of Morgan
Hill for the right-of-way and crop damage costs from Highland Avenue
south, amounting to approximately $6,000.00.
It was noted that a continued discussion of this matter
would be ,further discussed at the Joint Work Study Meeting of Morgan
Hill and Gilroy City Councils, scheduled for Monday, November 25,
1968 at 8:00 p.m. at the Friendly Inn at Morgan Hill.
. City Administrator Wood presented and read an Agreement
with Santa Clara County in regard to leasing the City of Gilroy's
Animal Pound Facility to the County. Motion was made by Councilman
Wentworth seconded by Councilman Silva and carried that the Agreement
with the County of Santa Clara in regard to the Animal Pound Facility
be approved as presented and that the Mayor be authorized to execute
same on behalf of the City.
City Adminis trator Wood noted that the City Pound vehicle
cost the City $2,745.00 and that the County of Santa Clara has
proposed to purchase it for $2,500.00. Motion was made by Council-
man Quartiroli seconded by Councilman Silva and carried that the
County of Santa Clara be authprized to purchase the City Pound
vehicle in the amount of $2,50Q.00 as requested.
re: City Administrator Wood presented a proposed ordinance
revising two titles of the Water Rate Schedule Ordinance. Motion
was made by Counci Iman Quartirol i seconded by Counci Iman Allemand
and carried that the proposed ordinance revising the titles of the
Water Rate Schedule Ordinance be introduced and publ ished by title
and summary.
At 5:50 p.m. the Mayor adjourned the meeting.
