City Council Meeting Minutes
April 16, 2012
I. OPENING
A. Call to Order
Mayor Pinheiro called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., convening the meeting in the
memory of Library Commissioner Kathleen Smith, sharing her biography and
community activities.
He then led the pledge of allegiance.
The invocation was given by Associate Pastor Bill Hawkins of New Hope Community
Church.
City Clerk Shawna Freels announced that the agenda had been posted on April 11,
2012 at 1:05 p.m.

B. Orders of the Day
There were no agenda changes.
II. CEREMONIAL ITEMS
A. Proclamations, Awards and Presentations
Mayor Pinheiro presented a proclamation naming the month of April as Fair Housing
Month.
Mayor Pinheiro presented a proclamation naming the Month of May as Bike Month.
Recology South Valley presented the recycler of the year award to North Coast Medical.
III. PRESENTATIONS TO COUNCIL
A. PUBLIC COMMENT BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ON ITEMS NOT ON THE
AGENDA, BUT WITHIN THE SUBJECT MATTER JURISDICTION OF THE CITY

There were no public comments on items not on the agenda.
B. Santa Clara County Cities Association Presentation to Council
The presentation was given by Raania Mohsen of the Cities Association of Santa Clara
County.
IV. REPORTS OF COUNCIL MEMBERS
Mayor Pro Tempore Tucker reported that Christopher High would be the location for the
for Earth Day celebration the following weekend. She then invited the public to attend
the library grand opening on April 28tH

Council Member Dillon expressed his sympathy and gratitude to the family of Kathleen
Smith, explaining that the family was asking that donations be made to the library in lieu
of flowers.

V. FUTURE COUNCIL INITIATED AGENDA ITEMS
Council Member Bracco asked to begin once again to agendize introductions of all new
employees and all recently promoted employees as a continuing item on the Council
agenda.
The full Council agreed to add the agenda item back to the agenda.

A. 2012 Summer Aquatics Program Options
The staff report was presented by Recreation Department Director DeLeon.
There were no public comments.
Motion on Item IX.A.
Motion: Direct Staff to Follow the Staff Report Recommendation Regarding the
2012 City Aquatics Program, Approving the Related Budget Amendment of
$180,000, and continue negotiations with GUSD so that there is no $38,000 fee.

Perry Woodward.
