Minutes 2016/11/21City of Gilroy City Council Meeting Minutes November 21, 2016 I. OPENING A. Cali to Order Mayor Woodward called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Harney. The Invocation was given by Bishop Jim Rawlings, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. PUBLIC COMMENT BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA BUT WITHIN THE SUBJECT MATTER JURISDICTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL Beverly Pierce shared details of the Veterans Day celebration thanking the city for assistance provided by the Police Department. B. Bicycle Pedestrian Commission Annual Presentation The presentation was given by Vice Chair Leo Gonzalez. IV. REPORTS OF COUNCIL MEMBERS Council Member Velasco announced Shop Small Saturday asking the community to shop at local businesses. Mayor Pro Tempore Leroe -Munoz spoke on the Silicon Valley Regional Interoperability Authority cell tower installation, and then shared details of county City Council Meeting Minutes 11/21/2016 efforts to attain National Heritage Area designation announcing a meeting in Morgan Hill on December 14th at 6:30 p.m. V. Public comment was opened. Ron Kirkish spoke on the need to add staff, suggesting that internal staff be considered for promotion. Public comment was then closed. Motion on Item IX.A. Motion: to Approval of Public Works Management reorganization and; approve a budget amendment funding the increased cost associated with the higher level City Engineer /Traffic Engineer and Deputy Director of Public Works /Operations Manager positions.
