Resolution No. 2022-24 | June 2022 as LGBTQ Pride Month | Adopted 05/16/2022 RESOLUTION NO. 2022-24 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GILROY PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF JUNE 2022 AS LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, TRANSGENDER, AND QUEER/QUESTIONING PRIDE MONTH WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Gilroy supports the rights, freedoms, and equality of those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ+); and WHEREAS, LGBTQ+ activists across the country have made tremendous progress to ensure individuals are judged on their character and not by who they love; and WHEREAS, the City of Gilroy prides itself on being an inclusive community and will continue to build a society where every child grows up knowing their community supports them, is proud of them, and has a place for them exactly as they are; and WHEREAS, the City of Gilroy encourages the celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride Month to recognize all people in the community deserve to be treated respectfully, fairly and equally regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council proclaims the month of June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
