Subject: September 12, 2022 council meeting
I was unable to attend this meeting, out of town, still can't believe that after thousands of tax dollars
spent to update our system we the public are not able to attend virtually and allowed to comment.
Last year you passed norms on how to treat each other during council meetings. I guess the rules
went out the window, it was a sight to see and hear the unprofessional treatment of a fellow council
member who was voted in office to speak for those who many of us feel have not been represented
by city council. Of note, is the presence of our attorney who sits besides you the mayor and yet on
many occasions I do not see him stepping up when proceedings are out of order/out of control and
violating our rules, city guidelines why is he there?
There has been an outcry by this community as well as city council members wanting justice for the
young mens' lives that were lost during the Halloween incident, yet, I find it ironic that as a body you
choose not to pass a local ordinance to lock up firearms, thereby limiting access. Lest we forget a few
years ago when a policemen here in Gilroy left his firearm in a nightstand unsecured or safely locked
away, causing the unfortunate death of his child.
You did not even take the time to look at the August 12, 2022 letter and report issued by Sarah H.
Cody, MD Health Officer and Director of the County of Santa Clara, perhaps, you should.
