Persons wishing to address the Commission are requested, but not required, to complete a Speaker’s Card located at the entrances. Completion of this speaker’s card is voluntary. All persons may a ttend this meeting and speak, regardless if a card is completed or not. Speaker’s slips should be submitted to the Secretary BEFORE this portion of the meeting begins. Anyone wishing to address the Commission on any other item on this AGENDA is requested, but not required, to fill out a speaker’s slip as well and submit it to the Secretary BEFORE the Commission takes action on the item. Executive Summary This is the first Youth Commission meeting of the new term. The Youth Commission has seven new Commissioners. An orientation is provided to go over policies and procedures for Youth Commission meetings. We will also discuss the upcoming retreat and how to prepare for it. 8.A Packet Pg. 4 YOUTH COMMISSION STAFF REPORT Agenda Item Title: Elect Chair and Vice Chair for 2021-2022 for Youth Commission. Executive Summary Every year at the beginning of the term, the Youth Commission appoints a Chair and Vice Chair to facilitate its meetings. If the Chair is unable to be present at the meeting the Vice Chair will take their place. 8.B Packet Pg. 5 YOUTH COMMISSION STAFF REPORT Agenda Item Title: 2021-2022 Workplan for the Youth Commission Meeting Date: October 11, 2021 Submitted By: Monica Gonzalez Prepared By: Monica Gonzalez Recommendation: Receive report and comment on the 2021-2022 Workplan for the Youth Commission. Executive Summary The workplan for 2021-2022 will be developed and finalized at the annual retreat held during the Youth Commission November 8th meeting. Commissioners are asked to begin brainstorming ideas and proposals. 8.C Packet Pg. 6 YOUTH COMMISSION STAFF REPORT Agenda Item Title: Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Social Participation and Appointments Meeting Date: October 11, 2021 Submitted By: Monica Gonzalez Prepared By: Monica Gonzalez Recommendation: Motion and vote to participate in the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Social and appoint 1 or 2 representatives to the YAC Social planning committee once commenced. Executive Summary Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Social is an event that happens every Fall/Winter to bring together all YAC Commissions/Committees/Teen Advisory Boards from different cities in District 4. The YAC Social event is tentatively scheduled for in-person (outside) on Saturday, November 20th. The first planning meeting date is to be scheduled. 8.D Packet Pg. 7
