Persons wishing to address the Commission are requested, but not required, to complete a Speaker’s Card located at the entrances. Completion of this speaker’s card is voluntary. All persons may a ttend this meeting and speak, regardless if a card is completed or not. Speaker’s slips should be submitted to the Secretary BEFORE this portion of the meeting begins. Anyone wishing to address the Commission on any other item on this AGENDA is requested, but not required, to fill out a speaker’s slip as well and submit it to the Secretary BEFORE the Commission takes action on the item. ADJOURNMENT YOUTH COMMISSION STAFF REPORT Agenda Item Title: Holiday Posada 2021 Community Engagement Meeting Date: December 13, 2021 Submitted By: Adam Henig Prepared By: Monica Gonzalez Recommendation: Discuss involvement in the 2021 Holiday Posada at San Ysidro Park Executive Summary At the last commission meeting, commissioners approved their work plan for 2021 - 2022. This included their support and engagement with San Ysidro Park’s Holiday Posada event that will be on Sunday December 19, 2021 from 3 -7pm. The commissioners decided they would like to lead craft activities that include: ornaments, face paint and letters to Santa. Along with the activities, they agreed to support with outreach to local youth for volunteers at the event, 12pm-3pm will be set up, 3-7pm event, 7-8pm is clean up. Youth are welcomed to volunteer from 12pm-8pm. Commissioner Kamrah would support all activities, Commissioner Yashila and Lavender would like to lead letters to Santa, Commissioner Alexis and Alexis would lead face paint, Commi ssioners Ezequiel, Jacob and Aiden would support ornaments; Commissioners Padda, Isaac and Winston, along with all commissioners, would support outreach and volunteer referral. The San Ysidro Nueva Vida resident leaders approved the Youth Commissions invol vement. Staff has procured materials for the event. Executive Summary Youth Commissioners will design and/or decide on apparel for the active commission term to identify as an organized body and use at community events. Executive Summary Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Social is an annual event that bring together San Francisco Bay Area-besed youth councils and commissions. The YAC Social in-person event was scheduled for Saturday, November 20, 2020 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Memorial Park Field in Cupertino (21121 Stevens Creek Blvd., Cupertino). Chair Padda, Commissioner Lopez, Commissioner Isaac, Commissioner Lavender, and Commissioner James attended on behalf of the Gilroy Youth Commission.
