He has lived in Gilroy for the past 14 years and wanted to be a part of the Arts & Culture Commission to see what he can bring to the table. VI. Approval of the 2021 Schedule of Regular Arts and Culture Commission Meetings Motion was made by Commissioner Bozzo to approve the Arts & Culture Commission Regular Meeting Calendar for 2021 with one retreat following the meeting in March. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Saldana. Motion passed 5-0. FINANCIAL REPORT A. Financial Report for the Quarter Ending December 31, 2020 1. Staff Report: Carina Baksa, Management Analyst 2. Public Comment 3. Possible Action: Accept Financial Reports for the Quarter Ending December 31, 2020 Staff Baksa presented the financial report for the Quarter Ending December 31, 2020. The Public Art Project Fund has a balance of $13,519.05 with $4,508.19 reserved for upkeep of current Public Art and $9,010.86 available for future projects. The Arts & Culture Commission Donations Fund has a balance of $1,358.34. Motion was made to accept the financial report by Commissioner Fierro. Motion seconded by Commissioner McCormack. Motion passed 5-0. IX. STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COMMENTS Student Representative Nicole Perales reported that the Covid related issues for the students continue and students of the arts are trying to figure out what to do for the second semester since they will probably not be able to meet in person again. Choir and Band performed in concerto via individual video recordings and then piecing them together. Drama is thinking of doing something similar, maybe record some monologues and piece them together. She may have a list of what everyone has decided to do by next meeting. Executive Summary At the beginning of the calendar year, the Arts and Culture Commission will motion to select a chair and vice-chair to serve for a one-year term. The chair’s main function is to preside over the commission meeting and approve the agenda prior to posting. If the chair is not present at the meeting, the vice-chair will be the presiding officer. The new chair will take over duties following this meeting. In 2020, the chair of the commission was Melanie Reynisson and Vice Chair was Nancy Fierro. 8.A Packet Pg. 8 ARTS AND CULTURE COMMISSION STAFF REPORT Agenda Item Title: 2021 Arts and Culture Commission's Selection of Meeting Date for Annual Presentation to City Council Meeting Date: February 9, 2021 Submitted By: Adam Henig Prepared By: Adam Henig Recommendation: Motion to approve two meeting dates to present to City Council. Executive Summary Each year, commissions are asked to present to city council. Due to the pandemic, commissions did not present in 2020. However, Council would like to resume this annual practice. The purpose of the presentation is to highlight the commission’s accomplishments of the year, and any work plan items that are currently being worked on. The presentation is delivered by the commission chair. Council is requesting that you select two meeting dates. Meeting Date: February 9, 2021 Submitted By: Adam Henig Prepared By: Adam Henig Executive Summary For the City’s upcoming two-year budget cycle, council is seeking input from city commission and boards. This is an opportunity to provide input from each commission as what they would like Council to consider for the budget. All items should be commission related.
