Bench Plaque Inscription for Lerma Resident Mary Avila has purchased a bench plaque in honor of her parents. Motion was made by Chair Reynisson to approve inscription with one minor change, to capitalize the ‘R’ in the word ‘Residents’. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Bozzo. Motion passed 6-0-0. IX. OLD BUSINESS A. Finalize Arts and Culture Commission Award for Donald "Elvis" Prieto 1. Staff Report: Carina Baksa, Management Analyst 2. Public Comment 3. Possible Action: Motion to approve the inscription on the Arts and Culture Commission Award for Donald "Elvis" Prieto Chair Reynisson reopened the discussion for the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for Donald “Elvis” Prieto in memoriam. Commission discussed the language for inscription and approved design. Award will have the Gilroy Arts logo and a microphone logo to represent Mr. Prieto’s craft as a singer. Award is to be presented to the family of Mr. Prieto at the in -person Council Meeting on September 13, 2021. Motion was made by Commissioner Bozzo to change the name of the award from Lifetime Achievement Award to Lifetime Community Service Award and approve inscription. Motion was seconded by Chair Reynisson. Motion passed 6-0-0. B. Review 2021 Arts and Culture Commission Work Plan (report attached) 1. Staff Report: Carina Baksa, Management Analyst 2. Public Comment 3. Possible Action: Review and comment on 2021 Arts and Culture Commission Work Plan. Workplan for calendar year 2021 was discussed and updated with progress. New Council Priorities were presented, however Commission decided to continue their already adopted workplan and try to realign priorities with Council in the new year. X. FINANCIAL REPORT A. Possible Action: Motion to accept and approve Financial Reports for the Quarter Ending June 30, 2021 3.A Packet Pg. 5 Minutes Acceptance: Minutes of Aug 10, 2021 6:30 PM (APPROVAL OF MINUTES) 3 Financial Report for Arts & Culture Commission Fund (ACC) and the Public Art Fund was presented by Staff Baksa. the ACC Fund has a balance of $1,358.34 and the Public Art Fund has a balance of $13,947.09 includes reserved funds of $4,508.19 and available funds of $9,438.90. Motion was made by Chair Reynisson to approve the financial report. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Zaldana. Motion passed 6 -0-0. XI. COMMISSION COMMENTS (Arts-Related) Commissioner McCormack asked about the progress of the ‘El Camino Real’ Bell that was to be installed at the Paseo on Monterey Street as part of the City’s 150th Celebration. Staff Baksa will inquire with City staff for an update. Update will be shared with Commission as soon as available. Chair Reynisson asked about open seats on the commission. Currently, there is one vacant seat and there is an active recruitment on the City Clerk’s website. XII. Recommends small group; share monthly updates; Nancy will help too. Project from City's side may be on hold for now, will update when new information is available. Judy is taking photos. Bench Plaque Program Continue to promote the installation of bench plaques, which raises money for public art.
