Digital billboards are terrible for the environment, causing light pollution, hazardous to birds, and are opposed by
both Audubon Society and the scientists at Mt. Hamilton, among many others.
They are also dangerous, causing a distraction for drivers.
There is, in my view, no upside. Gilroy is surrounded by beautiful hills, filled with wildlife, farms, and the
attractions that bring people to the city are not a Los Vegas glare of lights.
In my view digital billboards are a terrible decision, and I hope the Gilroy City Council has the good sense to reject
this idea.
