Persons wishing to address the Commission are requested, but not required, to complete a Speaker’s Card located at the entrances. Completion of this speaker’s card is voluntary. All persons may a ttend this meeting and speak, regardless if a card is completed or not. Speaker’s slips should be submitted to the Secretary BEFORE this portion of the meeting begins. ADJOURNMENT ARTS AND CULTURE COMMISSION STAFF REPORT Agenda Item Title: Adopt Workplan for Calendar Year 2022 Meeting Date: May 10, 2022 Submitted By: Carina Baksa Prepared By: Carina Baksa Recommendation: Review and Adopt Workplan for Calendar Year 2022 Executive Summary At the Arts & Culture Commission retreat on March 8, 2022, the commissioners worked on developing a workplan for calendar year 2022 that aligned with City Council’s current adopted priorities (goals). The workplan is attached to this report for official Adoption by the Commission. For review purposes, the Council Goals are: • Develop a Financially Resilient Organization that Relies on Local Revenues and Resources • Maintain and Improve City Infrastructure Including Streets, Facilities, and Incorporates Green Energy Practices • Promote Economic Development Activities that Create Opportunities for Quality Employment and Increase the City’s Tax Base • Ensure Neighborhood Equity from City Services Including Public Safety, Streets, Parks, and Recreation • Promote Availability of Safe, Affordable Housing for all Gilroy Residents Attachments: 6.A Packet Pg. 4 1. Commissioner Federico Saldana has been working with High School students and 6 th Street Studios to coordinate an Art Show in Downtown Gilroy showcasing Artwork by High School students. The Commissioners would like to assist with the event, be it preparation, set up or clean-up. This item is to give Commissioner Saldana a forum to provide information about the event to be held on May 21, 2022 and how Commissioners can participate. 6.B Packet Pg. 7 ARTS AND CULTURE COMMISSION STAFF REPORT Agenda Item Title: Selection of Vice-Chair of Arts and Culture Commission Meeting Date: May 10, 2022 Submitted By: Carina Baksa Prepared By: Carina Baksa Recommendation: Motion and vote for the selection of Vice-chair of Arts and Culture Commission for Calendar Year 2022 Executive Summary At the beginning of the calendar year, the Arts and Culture Commission motions to select a Chair and Vice-Chair to serve for a one-year term. The Chair’s main function is to preside over the commission meeting and approve the agenda prior to posting. If the Chair is not present at the meeting, the Vice-Chair will be the presiding officer. At the March 8, 2022 meeting, Melanie Reynisson was voted in as Chair. The Commission decided to postpone the selection of Vice-Chair to the April meeting, however, that meeting got cancelled and therefore it is on the Agenda for the May meeting. A Commissioner may nominate themselves or others if they would like to be considered for the position. 7.A Packet Pg. 8
