Commissions, task forces, councils and other agencies of the City exist to conduct the
people's business. This ordinance assures that deliberations are conducted before the
people and that City operations are open to the people's review .

PUBLIC COMMENT GUIDELINES:
During the PUBLIC COMMENT ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA portion of the
meeting, each person wishing to speak should prepare a presentation of not more than
three (3) minutes. Persons wishing to address the Commission are requested, but not
required, to complete a Speaker’s Card located at the entrances. Completion of this
speaker’s card is voluntary. All persons may a ttend this meeting and speak, regardless
if a card is completed or not. Speaker’s slips should be submitted to the Secretary
BEFORE this portion of the meeting begins. Anyone wishing to address the Commission
on any other item on this AGENDA is requested, but not required, to fill out a speaker’s
slip as well and submit it to the Secretary BEFORE the Commission takes action on the
item.
Materials related to an item on this agenda submitted to the City of Gilroy Arts & Culture
Commission after distribution of the agenda packet are available for public inspection
with the agenda packet in the Recreation Division at the Senior Center, 7371 Hanna
Street, during normal business hours. These materials are also available with the
agenda packet on the City website at www.cityofgilroy.org

IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Arts and Culture Commission - Regular Meeting - Jun 14, 2022 6:30 PM
Motion made by Commissioner Camille McCormack to approve the minutes
of June 14, 2022. Motion seconded by Commissioner Lisa Carter. Motion
passed 4-0.
V. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion was made by Commissioner Carter to approved the Agenda. Motion
seconded by Vice-Chair Alexandra Perdew. Motion passed 4-0.

VII. NEW BUSINESS
A. Mayor Marie Blankley's Annual Report to the Arts & Culture
Commission

Mayor Marie Blankley attended the meeting. She wanted to 'check-in' with
the Commission and make Commissioners feel valued and appreciated.
Mayor also hopes to improve visibility of Commissions and improve the
recruitment process. Commissioners expressed they would like to see
improvement to Social Media process for Commissions to share informati on
with Public.
B. Public Art Proposal for PUD Z 20-06 & AS 20-20, The Cottages
Subdivision
Developer D.R. Horton proposed to the Commission to donate $30,000 in -
lieu placing a piece of Public Art as part of their Planned Unit Development
of The Cottages at 9130 Kern Ave. The development is only 29 units and
there are limitations in the use of that space. The Commission can use the
funds in the future to furnish Public Art or Cultural events for the benefit of
the Public.
Motion was made by Chair Melanie Reynisson to accept the proposal and
forward a recommendation to Council to accept the donation of the $30,000.
Motion was seconded by Commissioner Carter. Motion passed 4 -0.

1. Fundraising - Commissioners met as a subcommittee to discuss fundraising ideas
and reported potential events are:
• Cookies & Photos with Santa, Winter 2022
• Fun run, Spring of 2023
• Diwali Festival, Fall of 2023 with sale of Luminaries
• Renaissance Fair experience, Fall of 2023
2. Arts & Culture Events in Downtown - Commissioners have participated in three
Friday Art Walks and Garlic-a-Palooza and attended Downtown Live. They will also
table at their 4th Art walk this Friday, September 16, 2022.
3. ACC Grant Program - Manos has already submitted their Special Event application
with the City. Commissioners have seen the flyer for the event and reached out to
them to let them know they have published the wrong date, but they have not
heard any other update.
4. Commissioner Perdew brought up the idea about having a calendar for all Arts &
Culture events around the City. Staff liaison informed Commission that this could
be a new project that the Commission would be able to take on and organize and it
could be placed on the Commission’s City webpage.
IX. COMMISSION COMMENTS (Arts-Related)
Commissioners continued discussion and shared ideas on how a
Community Events Calendar could be achieved. Also commissioners
discussed the possibility of having several small events per year.
