and the fact that meetings and trainings are currently being held virtually
due to the pandemic, the Commissioners shared that they didn’t need to
request a lot of money from the City budget over the next two years.

Council making space for the Library Commission and being able to go to
conferences and/or having some advocacy training and also serve in a
diverse cultural community to create programming that meets the needs of

Agenda Item Title: Library Commission Confirm Recommendation for the Upcoming
Two-year Budget Cycle.
Meeting Date: April 14, 2021
Submitted By: Monica Sendejas
Prepared By: Monica Sendejas
Recommendation:
If changes are made to previous recommendations, motion and vote to approve the
recommendations to Council for the upcoming 2-year fiscal budget.
Executive Summary
For the City’s upcoming two-year budget cycle, Council is seeking input from City
Commissions and Boards. This is an opportunity to provide input from each
Commission as what they would like Council to consider for the budget. All items should
be commission related. Recommendations will be submitted to Council.
At the Library Commission’s January 10, 2021 meeting, the Commission requested
funding of $100 per fiscal year for training or materials. The Commission would either
purchase books for each of the five commissioners on the topic of advocating on behalf
of the library or send a Commissioner(s) to a training.
A motion and vote will only be needed if changes are made to this recommendation.
