II. SECRETARY'S REPORT - Agenda was posted on November 5, 2021.
Robinson absent (excused).
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. September 8, 2021 - Motion was passed by Commissioner Kim to approve the
minutes. Vice Chair Baxter seconded. Motion passed 4-0-0.
IV. APPROVAL OF AGENDA - Motion was passed by Commissioner Reddy to
approve the minutes. Kim seconded. Motion passed 4-0-0.
V. AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS - none
VI. INTRODUCTIONS – Since it was the first in-person meeting in nearly two
years, commissioners and staff introduced themselves.
VII. PUBLIC COMMENT ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA – none.
VIII. OLD BUSINESS – none.
IX. NEW BUSINESS
A. Approval of the 2022 Library Commission Meeting Schedule – Reddy
proposed that the commission continue meeting five times in a calendar
year (as they have done in 2019 and 2020). The proposed meeting dates
are: February 9, April 13, June 8, September 7, and November 9. Reddy
motioned for approval. Baxter seconded. Motion passed 4-0-0.

X. LIBRARY REPORTS
A. County Library Report for October and November 2021 (report
attached)
Santa Clara County Librarian Jenifer Weeks discussed the following in her
report: Countywide patron survey results and its key takeaways; Joint
Powers Authority meeting; new hours for all library (pre-Covid schedule);
and homework help.
Commissioner Souza inquired about if the library was offering student
assistance considering the missed in-person time due to the pandemic.
According to education experts, Souza said, K-12 students have fallen
behind. The library is addressing this need and others, such as offering
mental health services for youth.
B. Gilroy Library Report for November 2021 (report attached)
Community Librarian Cassandra Wong discussed the following topics: new
library hours (pre-pandemic); community partnerships within Gilroy; virtual
and in-person offerings such as a “grab and go” art kit and an in-person
cultural dance performance; library circulation numbers; October events;
and the upcoming calendar for November.
XI. COMMISSION COMMENTS - Commissioner Kim inquired about bringing back
in-person story time. Wong said she would look into it and report back. Reddy
asked if the library would post information about Covd-19 vaccination availability
for youth, 5-11 years old.
XII. STAFF COMMENTS – Henig thanked Baxter for leading the meeting.
XIII. ADJOURNMENT – Reddy motioned to adjourn the meeting at 8:07 p.m. Baxter
seconded. Motion passed 4-0-0.
