Posted 04/19/2023 | Public Notice - Public Hearing - Gilroy 2023-2031 Housing Element Adoption City of Gilroy 7351 Rosanna Street | Gilroy, CA 95020-6197 Phone: (408) 846-0204 | Fax: (408) 846-0500 www.cityofgilroy.org NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Gilroy City Council | Monday, May 1, 2023 Post On: Wednesday, April 19, 2023 Post Until: Tuesday, May 2, 2023 Published in the Gilroy Dispatch on Friday, April 21, 2023 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Gilroy, on Monday, May 1, 2023, will hold a public hearing commencing at Gilroy City Council Chambers, 7351 Rosanna Street, Gilroy, CA, at 6:00 PM, or as soon thereafter as possible, to consider the following item: Project Number: GPA 22-01 Project Title: Gilroy 2023-2031 Housing Element Adoption Project Description: The City of Gilroy has prepared and intends to adopt an update to the Housing Element of the General Plan to affirmatively further fair housing and accommodate the 1,773-unit Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) for the 2023- 2031 Housing Element cycle. Public review and input has been a critical component of this 6th cycle Housing Element Update. The 2023-2031 Housing Element has been drafted to be substantially compliant with the requirements set forth in state law. The 2023-2031 Housing Element has also been drafted to obtain certification from the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), in response to comments on the initial draft submitted to HCD on October 31, 2022. CEQA Determination: The adoption of the Gilroy 2023-2031 Housing Element is exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15061(b)(3) in that it can be seen with certainty that the Gilroy 2023- 2031 Housing Element would not result in a significant environmental effect, and none of the circumstances set forth in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 applies. The draft Gilroy 2023-2031 Housing Element is on file with the Community Development Department at City Hall. The staff report for the Project may also be viewed on the City website (www.cityofgilroy.org) by 5:00 p.m. the Friday before the meeting. Interested parties are encouraged to attend this public hearing as this is the time and place when comments on the proposals shall be heard and given due consideration. The meeting will also be broadcast live on the City of Gilroy’s website at www.cityofgilroy.org. Persons who are unable to attend this public hearing may submit written comments by email to the project planner noted below, or by delivering them to the Planning Division at City Hall, 7351 Rosanna St. Gilroy, CA. 95020 prior to, or at the public hearing to be incorporated into the record. If you challenge the decisions at this hearing, you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised at the hearing, described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the City at or prior to the meeting.
