support this fundraiser. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Bottini.

Cathy Mirelez had the Commissioners fill in the spots that they will be working in the
Fireworks Booth July 1, 2, and 3.
B. Arts & Culture Commission Fundraising
Vice Chair Robinson asked if anyone had any suggestions for a fundraiser.
Commissioner Morasca explained that the Gilroy Arts Alliance is doing a monthly
fundraiser with Yogh Art in Gilroy. He explained that you just have to get people to go
eat yogurt on the day of your fundraiser. Last month GAA made $90.
Cathy Mirelez also reminded the Commission they could apply for grants, e.g. the Rotary
Club and the Gilroy Foundation.
C. Review of Criteria for Art & Business Partnership Awards — Large Business &
Small Business
All Commissioners in attendance were prepared to discuss possible changes to the
Criteria; therefore discussion began immediately.
Cathy Mirelez will incorporate the changes discussed and bring the document back to the
Commission in June for approval.
A. Reinstituting the Gilroy Hall of Fame
Former City Administrator Jay Baksa addressed the Commission and explained that
He was representing a small group of residents who would like to reinstate the Gilroy
Hall of Fame. There are presently 112 individuals who have been recognized. When this
was active it went through the Chamber of Commerce with a representative of the City
Council sitting on the committee.
Mr. Baksa brought this to the Arts & Culture Commission for information only at this
point in the process. He stated that eventually they would like an Arts & Culture
Commissioner on the Board. The Committee still needs to develop a process, a yearly
banquet, etc. They are looking at 2015 to have this all established.
Questions followed.
Vice Chair Robinson thanked Mr. Baksa for sharing this information with the
Commission.
B. Proposed Change of Meeting Start Time to 5:30 p.m.
Cathy Mirelez explained that she has had several people comment that if the Arts &
Culture Commission started at 5:30 p.m. rather than 5:00 p.m., it would be much more
convenient to be on the Commission and get to the meetings.
Motion made by Commissioner Bottini that the Arts & Culture Commission's
monthly meetings be changed to start at 5:30 p.m. beginning in June and thereafter.
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wang.
