CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Arts and Culture Commission was called to order by Chair Mattie
Scariot at 5:57 p.m.

The packet was posted on the City's website on Thursday, March 08, 2018 at 4:17 p.m. and the
agenda was posted in the Public Notice Cabinet on Thursday, March 08, 2018 at 4:10 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present: Chair Mattie Scariot, Vice Chair Barbara Bottini, Commissioner
Bruce Morasca, and Commissioner Amanda Rudeen.
Commissioners Absent: Commissioner Suzanne Wood and Commissioner Sally Armendariz.
Also Present: Public Art Committee Vice Chair Melanie Reynisson, Public Art Committee
member Judy Bozzo, Public Art Committee Sam Bozzo, Recreation Manager Adam Henig,
Recreation Coordinator Susan Voss, and Christopher High School Student Representative Paetra
Rottman
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion was made by Vice Chair Barbara Bottini, seconded by Commissioner Bruce
Morasca and carried with a vote to approve the minutes of February 13, 2018 with a vote
of 4-0-0.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion was made by Commissioner Bruce Morasca, seconded by Commissioner Barbara
Bottini and carried with a vote to approve the Agenda with a vote of 4-0-0.
INTRODUCTIONS
The Public Art Committee members were introduced.
AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS
Vice Chair Barbara Bottini awarded Chair L. Mattie Scariot with the Monthly Arts Award.
NEW BUSINESS
Garlic Festival Founders Plaque
Public Art Committee Vice Chair Melanie Reynisson presented the Garlic Festival Founders
Plaque to the Arts and Culture Commission. As indicated in the report, which was included in
the packet, the plaque will be erected in the Mulberry picnic area at Christmas Hill Park. Funding
has been provided by donors and renderings of the plaque were also presented.
Motion was made by Commissioner Bruce Morasca, seconded by Commissioner Amanda
Rudeen and carried with a vote to approve the Garlic Festival Founders Plaque with a vote
of 4-0-0.
OLD BUSINESS
Selection of Chair to 2018 Arts and Culture Commission
The selection of the Chair was tabled for the next meeting.
Motion was made by Commissioner Bruce Morasca, seconded by Vice Chair Barbara
Bottini and carried with a vote to table the selection of the Chair for the Art and Culture
Commission with a vote of 4-0-0.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COMMENTS
Christopher High School Student Representative Paetra Rottman announced that this month
Drama Department will be visited by their Russian sister city school and will be collaborating on
March 29, 2018 for a joint performance. There will also be additional shows showcasing just the
Christopher High School students on March 31, 2018 at 2p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are being sold
for $10 and can be bought at the door.
Christopher High School Band Department will be performing their Spring Band Concert on
March 20, 2018 at 7p.m. in the Dining Commons. There will be a $5 donation request at the
door.
STAFF COMMENTS
Henig stated that'Grace Hernandez has resigned from the Art and Culture Commission.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Mattie'SOhriot adjourned the meeting at 6:10 p.m.
