I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 PM by Vice Chair Nancy Fierro.

IV. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion was made by Commissioner Sally Armendariz to approve the
Agenda. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Karla Sward.
Motion passed 5-0-0.
V. NEW BUSINESS
A. Logo Design Contest Selection for 150th Anniversary of City of Gilroy

Staff member Adam Henig informed the commission they a re to select a
winner in each of the two categories, Adult and Secondary. From there, they
are to choose amongst the two category winner an overall contest winner,
which will be recommended to City Council. City Council will review the
Commission’s selection and approve the final logo at their July 1, 2019
meeting.
Vice Chair Nancy Fierro asked the commissioners to review the logo
contest entries in the adult category and provide a preference. There were
two logos discussed as potential finalists and were reviewed both in color
and black and white. Commissioners voted and determined page 12 (logo of
Old City Hall) was the winner in the adult category.
Motion passed with a 4-1-0 with Armendariz dissenting. She preferred the
page 7 (wine glass) since it included farm workers.
The commission went on to review the Secondary category. Commissioner
Karla Sward motioned to approve packet page 14 (logo featuring three
designs in different colors) entry as the secondary logo winner. Motion
seconded by Commissioner Maricela Andrade.
Motion passed with a 5-0-0.
Motion was made by Commissioner Andrade to recommend page 12 as the
overall contest winner and page 14 as the secondary winner. Commissioner
Sward seconded motion.
Motion passed with 5-0-0.
Discussion continued about how to recognize the winners and contest
participants. Will be discussed further at the commission’s next meeting.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
Meeting adjourned at 6:14 PM.
