MINUTES

I. Call to Order
The Special Retreat Meeting of the Arts and Culture Commission was called
to order by Recreation Department Director Maria De Leon at 6:30 p.m.
Present: Vice Chair Melanie Reynisson ,Commissioner Sue Kissa,
Commissioner Maricela Andrade, Commissioner Nelly Bermudez,
Commissioner Judy Bozzo, Commissioner Nancy Fierro, Commissioner
Federico Saldana.
Absent: Chair Karla Sward (resigned), Commissioner Camille McCormack,
and Commissioner Marika Somorjal.
II. Arts & Culture Commission's Strategic Plan/ACC Background Video
Recreation Department Director Maria De Leon referred the commissioners
to packet page 4 referencing the Strategic Plan as a good source of
reference.
III. 2020 Arts & Culture Commission Work Plan
The 2019 Arts and Culture Commission and 2019 Public Art Committee
Work Plan were reviewed by the commissioners. The commissioners
collaborated and identified the following list of items to be included in the
2020 Arts and Culture Commission Work Plan.
1. Create and complete Public Art Catalog with guidelines for developers.
2. Promote Arts and Culture related efforts.
3. Fine Tune the Awards Program Criteria.
4. Bench Plaque Program.
At the next regular Arts and Culture Commission, the commissioners will have the

opportunity to enlist and spearhead a selected project.
Commissioner Kissa stated since the high school representative hasn’t been present
in the past few Arts and Culture Commission meetings, she would like to place
this item at the beginning of the agenda versus towards the end. The commissioners
were in agreement.
IV. ADJOURNMENT
The Special Retreat Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.; the next Regular
Meeting will take place March 10, 2020.
