OPEN MEETING Chair Nicole Robinson called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. II. REPORT ON POSTING THE AGENDA AND ROLL CALL Planning Technician Kelsey Heyd reported that the agenda for the Regular Historic Heritage Committee meeting of September 17, 2014 was posted on Friday September 12, 2014 at 9:55 a.m. Roll Call: Present: Committee Member Steve Ashford, Chair Nicole Robinson, Committee Member Paul Kloecker Absent: Committee Member Edith Edde, Committee Member Peter Leroe-Muñoz Staff Present: Planning Division Manager Sue Martin, Planning Technician Kelsey Heyd, Planner I Valerie Negrete III. APPROVAL OF ACTION MINUTES: June 18, 2014 Motion on Item III Motion: to approve the minutes of June 18, 2014 as written Moved by Committee Member Paul Kloecker, seconded by Chair Nicole Robinson Vote: Motion carried 3-0-0-2 Yes: Chair Nicole Robinson, Committee Member Steve Ashford, Committee Member Paul Kloecker No: None Abstain: None Absent: Committee Member Peter Leroe-Muñoz, Committee Member Edith Edde Preliminary Minutes IV. PRESENTATION BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC: Connie Rogers inquired about a URM building located downtown at 7401 Monterey Street and whether the other URM buildings downtown will be coming before the Committee for review. She also had two suggestions for the Committee and staff. She asked for the historic inventory to be updated and also that the borders of the Historic district and properties could be more visible on the City’s maps. Planning Manager Sue Martin addressed Rogers’ map inquiry, informing her that the City is working on updating the GIS servers and the historic layer is on the list for revisions. Planner I Valerie Negrete addressed Rogers’ questions regarding 7401 Monterey Street and the downtown. Committee Member Steve Ashford provided video of the brick demolition at 7401 Monterey. Chair Nicole Robinson introduced Mayor Don Gage for his annual presentation to the Committee. Mayor Don Gage asked the Committee if they had any questions for him regarding the City. Chair Nicole Robinson asked the Mayor about development in the Downtown. Committee Member Steve Ashford inquired about the potential to contract an architect and/or engineer to assist with the review of historic and URM buildings. Chair Nicole Robinson asked about entertainment and what types of activities we’re doing to attract people to Gilroy. Planning Manager Sue Martin mentioned the Gilroy 2040 website and the forum available for citizens to provide their ideas and input. Chair Nicole Robinson inquired about public transportation and access to and from other major cities in the Bay Area. Mayor Don Gage completed his presentation.
