November 14, 2022 – Commissioner W. James motioned to approve. Commissioner Lopez seconded. Motion passed 8-0-0. VI. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Monday, December 12, 2022 – Commissioner Miller motioned to approve. Commissioner W. James seconded. Motion passed 9-0-0. Page 3 of 3 VII. AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS None. VIII. INTRODUCTIONS - Cindy McCormick, Customer Service Manager and Bryce Atkins, Assistant to the City Manager, introduced themselves. IX. PUBLIC COMMENT ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA - none X. NEW BUSINESS A. City of Gilroy Housing Element Update – McCormick presented a report as described in the memo enclosed in the packet. Commissioner I. Hwang asked about how the housing report relates to the youth commission and about RHNA. Chair Hwang asked how the Commission could support the housing element. McCormick suggested the Commissioners take the survey that was sent to them prior to the meeting. Vice Chair James motioned to approve the Commission take the survey. Lopez seconded. Motion passed 9-0-0. XI. OLD BUSINESS A. Finalize the details of the Holiday Posada Event – Commissioners are expected to arrive at 1:30pm for setup. Miller will be unable to attend. Francis will arrive at around 3pm. Supplies will be provided by staff liaison Bautista. Commissioners are expected to wear their Youth Commission apparel and dress warmly. Francis motioned to approve plan. I. Hwang seconded. Motion passed 9-0-0. B. Complete the 2022-2023 Youth Commission Work Plan – Holiday Parade was cancelled; Chair Hwang motioned for Commission to support at the Day of the Child event. Motion passed 9-0-0; Royal Red Carpet event needs outreach, activities, and food/drinks. Should there be fundraising? What’s the budget? Subcommittee? These items should be discussed at the next meeting; Career Fair has been changed to OpportuniTEEN. Commission will check to see if event can be held at Library. Focus will be on part-time jobs, internships, and volunteering; Presentation to City Council will be in May. XII. COMMITTEE REPORTS None. XIII. AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING – None. XIV. STAFF COMMENTS A reminder to arrive at the Holiday Posada event on 12/17/2022 at 1:30 p.m. Atkins mentioned that the City Council will be discussing Commissions during its January 28 Strategic Planning meeting. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY None. BACKGROUND The Youth Commission adopted its 2022-2023 Work Plan on Monday, October 10, 2022. The Work Plan will be reviewed and updated at each meeting.
