Please use proper judgment and caution when opening attachments, clicking links, or responding to this email. Greetings: I am a homeowner on Arnold Drive, near Hanna for over 30 years. I appreciate the mayor & the council members along with city administrator, Jimmy Forbis, listening to the residents and neighbors to the south of Las Animas park to close off the Wayland and Hanna parking areas for the safety of the neighborhood and the residents who live in the nearby area. I feel safer walking through the park now and I appreciate the quieter & safer streets. I am walking through and around the park more often now since the south parking lots have been closed. My neighbors and I have shared how much quieter the neighborhood has been since the parking lot has been closed, especially the homes whose back fences are to the south of the park and where much of the noise and disturbance has caused for sleepless nights, crime, and calls to the police. We are pleased with the current permanent parking lot closures and we would like to keep it that way. I understand the police has gotten fewer calls of disturbances since the south parking lots have been closed, which is very good news for all of us, including the police. about:blank?windowld=SecondaryReadingPane3 1/2 9/15/23, 9:44 AM Fw: Please Keep Las Animas South Parking Lots Closed for Safety - Thai Pham - Outlook was brought to my attention that there will be another council meeting to discuss the permanent parking lot closures because some members who use the tennis courts wanted to have access to the parking lot at the Wayland entrance. This letter is to address this issue. Is it possible to have some kind of compromise? Could the Wayland parking lot be opened during daytime hours and closed at sunset? If there are night tournaments, can the city arrange with the tennis club president to have a key to that parking lot lock to open & close the lock? Since we as homeowners live near LAS park all the time and the tennis club members & tennis players are welcomed to use this public park facility, I hope we can find a compromise with the Wayland parking lot that will please both the tennis players and the residents who live in the area. Since the Hanna parking lot is too far away for the tennis players to park, I hope this parking lot will remain secured all the time. Thank you for your consideration. Respectfully submitted, Mrs. Helen Daniels about:blank?windowld=SecondaryReadingPane3 2/2
