Good Evening Council,
I’m writing you to express my sincere concerns with the Fire/EMS coverage in Gilroy, specifically the Santa Teresa
station area.
I have 3 children that play little league baseball at the sports complex and they attend Solorasano middle school.
To my recollection the 4th fire station was supposed to be built and staffed years ago when the city approved all of
the development on the southwest quadrant. I’m concerned about the well being of my children in the event of an
emergency if there is not a consistently staffed fire station where they spend a substantial part of their days and
evenings, as well as Saturdays in the spring.
There is more and more building taking place in the city but it appears that we have not adequately addressed the
public safety element which should be prioritized before adding additional strain to the current emergency response
system.
Please take action to at least staff the temporary fire station full time, and please ensure that the City gets the fourth
fire station built without further delay.
Respectfully,
Brent Kirk
