Members of the Gilroy City Council,
I am writing to you to ask for your support in moving forward with the development of the
“Hillside Adventure Park” near Gilroy Gardens.
From hiking in Big Basin, spending time on the beaches of Santa Cruz, and mountain biking
in the Sierras, outdoor activities has been a staple of life for the 30 years I’ve spent in the Bay
Area. I am excited that the Adventure Park will provide additional recreation options closer to
home.
Today, to go surfing, you have to drive over the Santa Cruz mountains. To ride lift-assisted
mountain bike trails, you have to drive to the Sierras. Imagine doing both on the same
day! Many people, who would otherwise spend hours leaving the Bay Area on weekends,
would relish the opportunity to stay in town. Families could enjoy these activities more often
while balancing the demands of daily life. Now that my son has gotten older, I welcome the
opportunity to spend more time out of the car.
This is a unique opportunity to create a signature experience that both visitors and locals can
enjoy.
Thank you for your consideration.
