Dear City of Gilroy,
My name is Evan Goldsmith, and not only have I lived in Gilroy my whole life but my biggest passion is mountain
biking. I’ve been doing it for 16 years and there’s nothing that would make me more proud of my home town then
adding a lift access set of trails. Mountain biking is a great body and soul activity. Not only are you enjoying the
serenity of nature (a part of mountain range the public has had zero access to until now) but also a GREAT workout
learning new skills and progressing on the bike.
Hundreds if not thousands of people drive from all over California and specifically the Bay Area to go to North Star
mountain bike resort in Tahoe every year during the summer (me being one of them). Tahoe rakes an untold amount
of income from this and they are only open a few months in a year for mountain biking then ski season comes
around. Think of how much money the city of Gilroy can bring in annually if we had the only year round mountain
bike resort.
Northstar has done the bare minimum for the trails in the last 15 years I’ve been riding there so if we really put our
hearts and souls in the trails, we have the opportunity to do something really special with our city.
Thank you so much to anyone that took the time to read this.
Thank you,
Evan Goldsmith
