Agenda Item # 3.1 - Tim Davis | Received 02/05/2024I::e glary J, 2024
Dear C:]ty Council Members,
am writing to voice my strong support for a City Council resolution demanding a cease fire in Gaza.
As someone who works in this city, and as a person of conscience, 1 am horrified by the heedless
disregard for civilian lire in Gaza as tens of thousands have been killed, maimed, including thousands
of children, and tens of thousands more are facing starvation, disease and lack of adequate drinking
water. This is happening with the full financial support of the (JS government, which makes all of us
complicit in this genocide and ethnic cleansing taking place before our eyes. This campaign has
nothing to do with defending Israel when thousands of civilians are killed for every one '''militant." No
amount of rhetoric justifies targeting hospitals, apartment buildings, mosques, refugee camps and
schools. We as a nation have the power to stop this. \/Ve as a community have a duty to speak up,
particularly when our taxes are fueling such a violation of human norms and international law.
also want to note that i am married to an Israeli, have an Israeli step -son, and have lived and
volunteered in Israel for more a year. l feel that as a community, there has never been such an obvious
violation of Justice, which we, as a nation and as a community, are currently invested with our tax
dollars, and are therefore obligated to make a dear stance. This goes against everything we as a
nation stand for —justice and liberty for all.
irnok)re you, as members of this council and as people of conscience, to take up this resolution for
vote, and to lend your full support to that measure so that the rest of our Country will know that Giirce
stands strong against this collective punishment heaped upon this besieged population..
Thank you,
-Vim "r Davis
