Subject:EXTERNAL - Resolution for a Israel/Gaza Cease-Fire?
Dear Gilroy City Mayor, and Council Members,
I believe that there is nothing more divisive than virtual signaling. It serves no purpose other than fan the flames of
activist causes. In the case for a vote on a resolution for a cease-fire between Israel and Gaza, it's less than non-binding
(if that's possible) - it's just words meant to stir up emotion by a minority. A resolution by the city of Gilroy will not stop
the US' support of an ally, nor will it stop Israel. The silent majority understands this conflict more than given credit. DO
NOT be intimidated or threatened by the violent actions perpetrated by local activists following a similar rejection in
Santa Cruz, last Jan. You cannot appease this crowd, for they see it as an acceptable response whenever they don't get
their way. Acquiescing will lead to this type of behavior for anything they don't like. Offenders should be dealt with in
accordance with the law.
In its most basic form, this is a battle of good vs. evil. An elected terrorist government decided to attack - without
warning or provocation - civilians of a sovereign country. Not the military, not the government - but civilians enjoying a
concert and people living their lives in their home and kibbutzes. Hamas, and the Gazans that elected them, brought this
upon themselves. Their antisemitism was never in doubt, and neither was their desire to wipe out the Jewish people.
What it did stir were calls here for cease-fires, by the activist class. The majority knows what this means. A call for cease-
fire will give opportunities to restock, resupply, and plan. One of the Palestinian leaders is calling for a cease-fire, but
says that they will continue to have an "Oct 7th everyday" during that cease-fire.
Want to pass a resolution? I could get behind the unconditional release of all American (i.e. US Citizens) kidnapped and
still held by Hamas since that tragic day.
Best regards - don't give in,
Warren Soriano
