Gilroy City Council
7351 Rosanna Street
Gilroy, CA 95020
Mayor Blankley and Members of the Gilroy City Council.
We write to you to express our concern about actions taken by the City of Gilroy that
potentially violate the Housing Accountability Act and Permit Streamlining Act. Each of
these laws provide important regulatory framework to ensure fair and efficient
consideration and processing of residential permit applications. These laws were adopted to
support our shared efforts to address the housing affordability crisis in our communities.
We urge this council to direct city staff to work in good faith with the relevant property
owners and the California Department of Community Development to resolve these
potential violations.
We would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge, and express our support for the
important work that your Community Development Department has done in preparing your
6th Cycle Housing Element Update. Important work has already begun in your city, and we
look forward to continuing to learn from your efforts and provide support when
appropriate.
Sincerely,
